I probably have the best performace to money ratio. I get pretty good performace (can run Half-Life 2 on full graphics) and it's almost lagless.

Celeron D 355 2.8Ghz 533Mhz FSB, 512k L2 Cache
(678Mhz FSB)
VIA PM800M2 Motherboard (Micro ATX)
512Mb DDR RAM (Duel Channel, DDR333)
80Gb HDD, 7200rpm, 8Mb Cache, SATA
DVD Burner Combo Drive
ATI Radeon 9600XT 256Mb DDR AGP 8x
Custom case with clear side panel window, and mods
Illuminated Keyboard, and Optical Mouse

Runs Half-Life 2 on full graphics, does the job. It's actaully a pretty good PC, the RAM helps alot.

I wish my 9600 was a 256 mb.

Right now I'm torn between a Xbox 360 and a new video card and monitor. The rest of the hardware is fine for games.

Actually, you can't get a top of the line card because you're using Socket 754. Best you can get is a 6800 Ultra or X850XT

1) Are you 100% sure I am using a socket 754?

2) If so, any chance in the future I could get a better card tahn those listed? (i.e they make an awesome card compatible with thesocket 754)?

Seeing as how you are running not only a Celeron, but a VIA chipset also, I would have to say that it was a pretty poor choice, not a good one.

5500==AGP card. AGP and 64-bit means Socket 754. They stopped making new things for AGP after the x800/6800. Best thing you could do would be to sell your motherboard and proc, get an Asus A8N-SLi (deluxe if you want a good soundcard/ethernet card onboard), and get a 3500+, and a 7800GT. I'd say that'll end up costing you ~650-700 USD (350 for 7800GT, 180 for 3500+, I think A8N's are 100, Deluxe's are 130 or something).

Since when does 939 come with AGP? Unless it's just NF4 that comes with PCI-E, I thought I read somewhere that 939 would never be coupled with AGP. Suppose I was wrong.

Only NF4 chipsets have PCI-E.

Also, some VIA chipsets are also AGP.

Do you happen to know the name of your mobo? Like, the model?

If not, pop the case open and look on the mobo for it.

Doesn't matter, they don't make a 5200 pci-x so you have AGP. You'd have to get a new motherboard to get a high end card. Best you can get with AGP is 6800gt or x850xt

I dunno why they're doing it, but it may be. Only the X1800XT though, which stock is inferior to the 7800GT/X. I would think the PCI limitations of AGP would begin to catch up with them.

Wha? I thought the new Radeon was faster/on par with the 7800 in all games?

2.6Ghz P4 @ 2.85Ghz
2x512 sticks of PC3200
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB @ 435/365
160GB Western Digital HDD w/ 8MB Cache
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Valve

Hopefully before Christmas I'll have some form of a 6800 instead of a 9800 Pro. But I'll miss my Temporal AA though (gives you 4x AA with the performance of 2x AA)...

I checked a couple reviews, first game reviewed: HL2. Verdict? 7800GT/X wins. Seeing as how that's ATi's forte, that ended the review for me there.

Not really, since even my card doesn't do that. 8xaa, 16xaf everything highest I get about 40-50 fps, and dips to 30-ish, and I've got a much much better video card than you do. It's a mediocre setup, and if you think you've got everything on highest running nearly flawlessly, you've either got quite a few selections unchecked, don't like AA and AF, or like getting 10-20 fps.

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (going ~1.75 GHz)
Asus A7S333
512 MB (2x256. Yay?) PC 2700
40 GB Maxtor HDD
Lite-On LTR-52327S
ATI Radeon 9600XT (128 MB)

The motherboard doesn't have PCI locking, and overall is just a bad piece of equipment, so everything becomes "a bit" unstable if I push the CPU any higher.

As far as peripherals and that stuff:

NEC "MultiSync LCD1765" (17" LCD)
Bad onboard sound
Extremely annoying 350W PSU
Aging Intellimouse Explorer and old IBM keyboard
No-name tower
Some old, crappy, dying Labtec Spin-60s (speakers)
