I used to think I'd got rid of a fear of heights I had as a child through doing all sorts of stupid things. Climbing trees, jumping off walls, climbing buildings etc.
But last month I went scrambling (unroped) up a place called Tryfan in North Wales and there was one point where you had to cling onto an overhang and swing each leg awkwardly over a large rock. Not technically difficult, but the combination of being forced to lean away from the rock and the exposure scared the bejesus out of me again.

I am scared of big and/or hairy spiders. I had to kill this one a little smaller than my hand that had gotten in our tent because my tent-mates were even more scared than me. I ended up getting it in a corner and stabbing it with a giant stick until it was in tiny little gibs (really), but I was scared the entire time. I still am scared of big spiders. So much for facing your fears.

When I was little I was scared of clowns and that card game Old Maid (it's a long story that involves me being really young and my older sister). Then at our local Pizza Hut there was this clown that went around giving out packs of Old Maid cards. I had to hide under the table. :gbk:

if you're in america you should get yourself a shotgun, i heard somewhere that shotguns are really good at terrifying intruders, as in, moreso than other types of firearms.

and not only that, you can shoot them with it too.

I agree with JepMan, there is most of the time just somthing highly strange about being in the dark alone. I can't stand it sometimes. Even the quick walk upstairs at 3 in the morning after using the computer can leave me feeling strange. I don't know why really. I see no reason to be scared right now, and even when I am scared I don't know why. I could care less if I am with someone. I just always get the feeling that I am being followed, and occasionally since its dark my eyes play tricks on me and things look like they move and whatever else.

JepMan, you are alot braver than me, I'd never go out in the woods at night alone without a light.... Unless I really have to go to the bathroom while camping. Then those fears go out the window :D

Also star gazing is spooky. Even with people. But somthing just makes me do it whenever its night time and I'm outside. I don't know why.

I hate taking the dog out at night because she insists on walking really far from our house to do her business  Then I mix the dark night with looking at the stars and contemplating the vastness of space, and man thats a bad combination.

Paralysis. I am scared to death of it. It would take away so much that I loved. I could never experience the joy of rowing again, nor the simple pleasure of taking a walk. Life would never be the same. What it would be is a Hellish struggle.

Other than that, imprisonment, and parasites *shudder*.

Alright, Jep.... or should I say, Alan.

I've had awareness during sleep paralysis before, Nightwind, and let me tell you, it's a really horrifying experience (especially since you can hallucinate during it, too).
