Son charged in stabbing death of father

http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/breaking_news/8818982.htm

read the article, and yah maby you dont care. but today has been rough for me and my friends, i dont even know what emotion to feel. Danny Presson was my friend. Not only that, but he was my boyfriends best firend.

last night was so stupiod. Each friend told there parrents that thay were staying at different houses, so thay ended up wtih no where to stay. Eventully this lead them to pitch a tent in a creepy grave yard, where at 3(ish) in the moreing the cops came because tahy were trusspassing. (did i mention thay were extremly drunk)

The cops called all of there parrents. and Danny's dad came to pick him up. Danny's dad is pissed at him, for lying about where he was, and being out all night, which prompted an arguement. The arguement spriled downward untill thay were wrestling on the kitchen floor, where danny stabed him once, but immeatly killing him with a butcher knife.

Then he takes his mom's SUV and screams down lexingtion at speeds of excess 90mph, where he crashes, beause he was trying to find his gf's house to hide from the cops. who catch up with him on foot a short while later.

And now, this pot smoking junkie who wanted to be a mecanic is in jail for murdering his father. In his case there pushing life inprisonment... I'm nost saying he doesent deserve it, but, sigh. i dont know what to feel.

I can't belive that.

1.) It's amazing how a kid could stab his own father.
2.) He survived after crashing a car at 90MPH?
3.) How can one take a life so easy.I can barely kill a bug without feeling bad for it. I just ended a life.

I feel sad for that poor man [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I feel sorry for you. And for all who have to go through times like this.

Depends how good a dad your dad is...

HOWEVER in this case it doesn't seem like there was much reason for it if any.

I just want to point out that if the father is beating the son and the son feels like his life is in danger, it's perfectly legal to defend himself. I'm not sure that happened in this case, but if anyone 25 years my senior and 150lbs heavier than me had me pinned on the floor and was beating the snot out of me, I wouldn't hesitate to pull a knife or a gun in my own defense.

also,

I think they got that line mixed up, shouldn't that say a MINIMUM of 15 years in prison?

Pot smoking junkie?? Smoking pot does not make you a junkie in any way shape or form. Seriouslly, get real. Do you think the pot had anything to do with any of his problems? He was out at night DRINKING ALCOHOL. Upon returning home he was probably still drunk, and thus got violent with his dad. Drinking makes you violent. If he had been smoking pot that night instead of drinking I can GUARANTEE you his dad would be alive right now, and your friend wouldn't be facing life in prison.

And sorry about all this crap but it doesn't really sound like he was your friend at all the way you talk about him.

It depends on which state, but death penalty is only used in extreme cases. Usually death penalty is given to people whose murders were particularly brutal.

I don't think life in prison is the right penalty for this one. Not only was it not premeditated but the circumstances that Brian mentioned should also cause a lesser penalty. I'm not saying that he should get off the hook but the penalty needs to fit the crime.
2004-06-03, 10:33 AM #24
1st degree murder means you planned it, 2nd it was like in a fit of rage, and they go easier on you. Usually you don't get the death penalty unless you planned it, executed it, and there was some torture or rape or something else involved as well. Or if it was multiple murders. AT least according to courttv.

Um, no. not hardly. Especially not for minors. The death penatly is usually resrved only for instances of mass murder, such as the oklahoma bombing.

[EDIT} uh, yah. Legend said it all.

Ah, okay.
Also, on a completely unrelated note, is treason actually punishable by the death penalty?

Also, the US does execute criminals under 18. It's one of the few countries in the world that does.

Friend? Most people don't call their friends "pot smoking junkies". Junkie is a pretty hateful label.

Thats ****in ridiculous.

Heroin addicts are junkies.
Crackheads are junkies

Potheads are NOT junkies. If you want to call someone who smokes weed a junkie then you might as well call anyone who drinks alcohol a junkie. Seriously, someone who had a joint once in a while does not have a problem. Go look at people shooting heroin in alleyways...they have a problem.

Raoul, I think you are completly missing the point of the thread. She didn't create it to argue about if people who smoke pot are considered junkies or not. She created it because a friend of hers killed his dad. The fact that he smoked pot is a minor detail. But if you want to argue over if people who smoke pot are considered junkies, create a new thread or something. JUST DON'T DO IT HERE.

And Elana... my sympathy goes out to you and all effected by this tragedy.

Uh, just because you admit your boys or girls do substances doesn't mean they're not your friends ..

What to do with him depends on how you want his life to turn out .. if you want to try to "save" him, you don't put him with the lifers .. he'll get pushed into crews, get assraped and assaulted, beaten if he fratenizes with other crews, etc .. but if you want him to see bitter for his life, you shove him in there.

to clear the record, danny did most every drug i can think ok, and problly some i cant. I actully just left his house where his mom is at, and his sisters whith there husbands, and dam. All of there hearts are broken in 2. No one but imidate family is allowed to see him.

It's strange to think that even though he did this, for the people who know him, out openion of him hasent changed. We all still love him, and dont think any less of him than the day before, maby that's rong. Everyone is looking for answers to the question why, and there are none.

Thay say he doesent understand what he has done, that he doesent understand that his dad isant comming back. Please pray for us, and danny.

Not that it concerns this thread in any way shape or form, but just so you know:

YOU ARE WRONG IN EVERY WAY, AND YOU MIGHT AS WELL GIVE IT UP.

Marijuana is just as addictive as any other drug, and yes, alcohol. Trying to say that one is better than the other is stupid, because they're all bad for you. If nothing else, smoking something is not good for your lungs, diminishing the oxygen you receive, making you unable think as clearly. And I'll be damned if you say that "junkies" on marijuana are not addicts. I can't stand people who defend marijuana as if it has no biological side effects.
