Sine, it would help if you provided a reason for editing posts than just 'No' or 'See above'

Maybe it would help other people realize what the other person did so that they wont make the same mistake.

How come you don't step forward in countless other posts similar to this one? They weren't meant to be political debates but they were allowed to become one? For example: http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum1/HTML/031848.html
I'm not really trying to criticize you...just shed some light. The post about thanking the American soldiers was not meant to be a debate but was allowed to turn into one.

So if a thread is created for a purpose (lets say a political joke), that thread must stay in the boundaries of replies of "That's funny", "That's not funny" or something of that sort? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]

bah...whatever.

Good god, Sine. Respect--;

Here's a clue: this isn't your sandbox. Go play vengeful god somewhere else.

As I well know, openly criticizing an administrator on a public thread only improves the situation.

Not like keeping it to e-mail or, say, keeping your mouth shut. That only worsens the situation.

Wolfy, Sine screwed up. Public criticism is perfectly appropriate.

You're right. It's alpha's. If you can't be considerate enough to abide by a simple request that this thread not turn into a debate, you might go somewhere else yourself. Leave the tone, though.

Sine: Not to drag this out unneccessarily, but alpha never [explicitly] made that request. Your decision was [fairly] arbitrary.

Er...where? As far as I can see, he's been appointed as one of the people to help run this place. If he decides something, it's not really up to you to decided whether it's wrong or not.

When as I was an administrator, I constantly told people this, and I'll tell you this now: you don't have the authority to tell Sine what to do, or whether he did something wrong. If you want something that he did changed, you e-mail him or Brian. Posting your problem here on the forum solves nothing.

Ironically, this is not a democratic situation. The staff decides what is allowed. Sine just so happens to be on the staff. If you do not like his decisions, go ahead and complain, but I'd suggest you do so privately.

Point of fact, Massassi isn't your sandbox. If you don't like how things are handled, there is always the door.

Wolfy: Of course it's up to me to make judgments on the appropriateness of editing my posts (and destroying several minutes of labor). Since I felt that they were edited wrongly, I had several options:
1. complain publicly
2. complain privately
3. leave

I chose what I felt to be the most effective. Note that at least three other people had a problem with Sine's decision: it benefits no one, least of all the administrators, if people ignore errors.

You aren't the one charged with determining what is and is not appropriate to edit on these boards. As long as the other admins agree with his actions, he's good to go.

Edit: Also, since you failed to acknowledge the rules:

Keep it on e-mail, please.

is there any way for me to close this thread? I think it has gotten a bit out of hand from people taking it WAY too seriously.

I'll close it for you, but in the future, you can always delete the thread.
