Honestly. This is something a lot of people have posted before but I cant remember the last time it was done. SOme have quit visiting here because of it, some have just posted topics about it.

What the hell is wrong with this place?

Dont get me wrong. I've been visiting Massassi for like.... 8 years? And it's nothing like it used to be.

The admins are pissy power abusive people, with the exceptions of a few. They like to threaten or provoke people, but when someone replies to their insults or provokation, they are banned, topic is closed, or something is done.

What about the admins?

It isn't just the admins, it's the general attitude. Massassi used to be a generally nice place, even to those that werent well liked. Nowadays, even people who are revered (Jedi Gandalf, Spork, and others) are insulted on an almost daily basis. A lot of it is joking, but a lot of it is not jokes.

There are constant flame wars, constant arguments, constant insults, etc.

When someone voices an opinion, an admin just says "Read the frigging rules" and BOOM. They are banned, topic is closed, or as i said, something is done to them or their account.

I understand there are rules to uphold, but it just seems over the last few months that the asses of the admins have gotten tighter and tighter. Yet, we've all gotten older. Shouldn't we be acting a little more mature around ehre?

I know I myself am not one to talk. I've said some things, and let things get out of hand. So I'm not pushing blame on any one person, but Massassi as a whole.

Topics about people getting murdered, raped, racism, deaths, etc, are for the most part now turned into some kind of flame war.

Topics with any links leading to pon, are closed or the links are cut off.

Topics with tons of half naked girls, are ok.

Topics where someone voices an opinion that differs from someone elses begin as insults, then turn into flame wars, then turn into bans.

What the hell has happened to Massassi? It's still an ok place to visit, but if I had my choice, I'd rather it go back to how it was 2-3 years ago. Where everyone wasn't on their god damned period.


EDIT: And to prove my point, I guarantee within this topic someone will either insult or provoke me, or someone else.

I must agree on Temperamental... while I'am no saint, and here because of the Admins... I must admit that things are getting out of hand any more.

We used to have a 1/2 decent civilized forum about 3 maybe more years ago... and some dude said that we were just maturing... if what we have come to is maturity... than I wish to never be fully mature.

Exactly. We used to be able to have civil discussions about things. People with differing opinions would DEBATE. Now they argue.

No, see - they did argue. Violently and through a flurry of personal attacks and very thinly-veiled insults. You just didn't notice it because those particular people were chained up inside the Religious Discussion forum. Do you know why the RD forum was closed?

But seriously, it's not different now then it was before. You're just reminiscing about "the good ole days" but your perceptions of those days has been tainted by time to suggest that it was something special.

Actually, temp, it was the opposite of what you say. Back then the debates always ended up being flaming arguments, with people attacking people for not citing sources, and then when those sources were cited, attacking those sources themselves, without ever even talking about the issue at hand.

While I may not to present this, Religion is to be discussed door to door, face to face, because its a serious matter that cannot be discussed simply over a forum with out posting an encyclopedia to prove a point.

Thank you Hellequin for both proving my point, and showing that throughout these years, you are still at the maturity you were 8 years ago.



EDIT: And to Avenger, and others that have replied to me within this topic so far: These are the posts I remember, the ones like yours so far. You've pointed out differing opinions than me, different perceptions, and all without insults or provoking anything. Those are the replies I like to read.

I don't mean to sound like a preacher of anything, but I mean the internet is loaded with porn and the like. We all have the ability to resist the temptation. Hell, what's stopping us from just going to google and typing in something related to sex and porn? We could all easily get our fill if we wanted to anytime. So why is it a big deal if it's presented to us in the form of an ad or a link and advertised? It's common knowledge porn is out there. And like Temper said most of probably look at it, watch it, etc. We're mature enough to handle links and ads.

At least, I hope we are.

As for Massassi, it seems different but perhaps that's because I wasn't around here that much with 56k.

However, I think that in late 2005 people totally changed from somewhat (okay, one step from not) civilized to "I am always right". More than before. Oh well.

Then again, nothing has actually changed. Comparing threads from year or two ago to threads today... you guys don't change. Neither do I though.
