Temperamental, how come you complain about threads turning into flame wars and then complain about admins coming in and closing threads that are against the rules?

Voicing an opinion is fine. We have no quarrel with that. We don't want opinions that personally attack people or groups of people. This place will not be a person's medium to spread their hate.

Lemme expound on that thread a little. He should have handled that better. But, the rules do say that no links containing porn/warez/etc/et al are allowed. I think what makes this place kind of stand out is that we want to make it a clean place. I can go to SA and find porn links and people using swearing every third word should I so desire.

I realize that this place is growing up. I do not believe that the rules were mainly written because we were all 13-15 back in the day, but to keep this site from becoming just another SA variant.

There are those here who are quite...opinionated and sometimes go to far. We handle them according to what we feel is necessary.

The Religious forum needs to come back to get some of the more heated topics moved out of the main discussion forum.

What I have noticed about the discussion forum is that many of the massassian elders have since graduated High School and many of them have since graduated from a secondary school (or will soon graduate). When in High School, these members would have been more open to discuss certain topics with an open mind through curiosity. This was a good thing because there wasn't, in general, a lot of n00b bashing. There were a lot of very useful links posted that made all of us all around more knowledgible geeks.

But that has changed. As these same members have began attending secondary schools they've lost a lot of patience and have become more close minded to open discussions. They've adopted an "I'm smarter then you" and an "I've got a degree in so and so, which makes me an expert even though I have absolutely no experience in my field, and I said this is the way it is so you are a moron if you disagree with me and so what if this is a discussion forum, I'm right and you're wrong" attitude. They fling fallacies left and right. Most frequently, poisoning the well or some other type of ad homin varient.

It's really sad because the over all intelligence of the massassi community has actually dropped because the majority of the elder members have become so closed minded. My two cents.

Well considering you were complaining about how everyone is flaming, this part should make sense to you. We are trying to keep things calm. Its what... 2 or 3 of us admins trying to keep everything relativley calm... but then theres what? 50+ of you all? Not exactly the easiest thing in the world to do.

I try to be as fair as possible when it comes to closing threads or removing links, but no matter what I do, someone will always complain. Theres nothing I can do about it. Im sorry that you feel that massassi has gone downhill, but dont get angry when I remove a link to a site that I deem inappropriate for massassi.


And if you honestly have a big deal with something an admin does, PM another one and we will attempt to resolve the issue.
