As any football fans here will know, the playoffs are starting to get more intense. Tomorrow, Washington is at Seattle, then New England is at Denver. The next day, Carolina will face Chicago at Soldier Field, and Pittsburgh will try to get back at the Colts in Indy.

How do you think the playoffs will turn out? When the smoke clears, who will be the 2005 champ?

My pick is New England. Call me a bore, but they're peaking right now, and that's good, especially after that disappointing start. They slaughtered the Jaguars at home last Saturday, and they'll go to Denver with several key starters back that they didn't have earlier in the year. With Brady at the helm, and Bellichik calling the plays, I just can't call against them. It sure sucks too; I would have loved to see some new blood take the trophy. Maybe I'm just depressed because my beloved Packers didn't do too well this season. But we'll know by the end of tomorrow if my prediction can still stand.

Pats ftw!

Did anyone watch the Patriots/Jaguars game last week? If you can even call it a game.. :D

I think in the past couple weeks, the Washington Redskins have been playing stronger than any other team in football. I don't think they're the best team in the playoff picture by far, but I think they have some serious momentum and it wouldnt suprise me to see them beat the Seahawks and go to the NFC championship, if not the Super Bowl.

I live in Rhode Island, Pats. DUH! They used to train at Bryant College (A few seconds from my house.) They always used to go to Parente's (The bar I worked at...a few seconds from my house) and once one of the Patriots asked if I wanted an autograph and I told him I was a Packers fan. >.< I'm not really a fan of football, plus I was about 14/15 years old so I didn't realize the value of autographs on ebay :p

The Patriots? If the Patriots can beat my Broncos, maybe then I'll take them seriously. Until then, all they've done is beat a Jacksonville team that came out last weekend with the simplest offensive gameplan I've ever seen.

Denver wins the Super Bowl.

I'm a Packer fan, so when I'd say I rather have the Bears win the Super Bowl than New England, that should make my feelings clear. However, that being said, you would be crazy to bet against the two time defending Super Bowl champions. They have more experience under pressure than any team in the playoffs right now, as well as a brilliant Head Coach and a 10-0 QB playoff starter in Tom Brady. Believe me, I would love Denver to beat the snot out of them this weekend, however I just don't see it happening. It's the Patriots.

As Nubs said, the Patriots are two time defending champions... uh... when was the last time your Broncos won the super bowl with their current line up.... oh... never.

The only trouble I see for the Pats this year is that if they play Indy, it will be in Indy, so they won't have the cold weather advantage that has haunted Peyton Manning the last two seasons. The Colts have beat the Pats in Indy before, and given the state of the Pats secondary, Manning will eat them alive.

Not sure what that means... as far as I know, no team in the NFL has won a Super Bowl with their current lineup.

This year is all that matters, and the Pats have done nothing this year to earn anything other than skepticism.

That's what people said for the last two years.

Remember how indianapolis was a sure thing last year? That didn't quite pan out, though, now did it?

Who will win the Super Bowl? That's hard to tell right now. Next week might give clearer picture to that. Definitely not the Pats. I don't think they are what they were last year. I think Denver will best them. If not, then Indy. Should it come to Indy v. NE, that will be a shoot out.

I remember how a lot of people thought Indy was a sure thing last year, but I wasn't one of them. Between Baltimore showing the league how to slow down their offense, and their dependence on playing indoors, the writing was on the wall long before they lost to the Pats. This year's Colts are much improved, but if they make the Super Bowl, it will still be largely thanks to the fact that they got homefield advantage.

All I have to say is the Colts will choke, just like they do every time. --Yes, I'm from Indianapolis. They really drive me nuts. It also adds the frustration that they have to get a new stadium and the county that pays the most taxes on it is the county that covers the inner city. So poor folks are footing the bill.

Although I am a Steelers fan, that game started horribly for the Bengals, and I almost felt sad for them. First snap (or was it 2nd?) and he was out for the count.

Yeah, that helps, but I think even if they play it outdoors in good weather (which is the only other way Super Bowls are played) they'll be in good shape. The main problems with the Colts' no-huddle spread offense are that crowd noise makes it difficult to call plays at the line in road games, and bad weather makes it harder to throw and catch.

No doubt. That's why they have such a huge advantage this year becasuse all they games they play will be indoors.

Oooh, the Pat's are losing! Yes!

I was hoping they would go down, but I didn't expect them to lose to Denver. As long as Denver loses too, then all will be ok. If Denver wins tonight, and the next game, I'll never hear the end of it from my friend.

For the record, I'm a Dallas fan, and once again, Dallas proved that they still suck.

Well, folks, tonight's Denver game pretty much proved how little I know about football. Final score: Denver 27, New England 13. I stand corrected, Michael McFarlane. ;)

Go Denver!

I predicted this game to a couple friends at school. I just thought that New England wasn't as strong as they were the last couple years, and that it was about time statistically for them to lose. And Denver is a very very very good team this year.

I'm on Denver bandwagon right now! *me starts up Madden 2006 to start a franchise*

Ding Dong the Witch is dead! Man alive, I did not see this one coming. Yet it shows just how important it is to force New England into turnovers, it's extremely difficult for any team to overcome them. I also enjoyed how Denver just physicaly beat up the Pats, something that New England usually prides themselves on. Right now, I'm taking the Broncos to come out of the AFC. This is a different Denver team, one that just knocked the champs out. Unless Indy blows the doors off Pittsburgh tomorrow, I think Denver just became my favorite. Very impressive performance, kudos to the Broncos.

From what I heard of the game (was driving..so I couldn't watch it) it sounded like the Pats lost because they played terribly, not because the Broncos were that great. Makes it that much worse..lol

Eh, with the exception of the Troy Brown fumble, those errors were all forced by Denver's physical play. Lest we forget, Denver was +20 in turnover differential during the regular season. The Broncos came out with the mindset that the Patriots would have to play flawlessly to beat them, and the Pats just weren't up to the task.

The Colts get the play of a lifetime, and can't even make a FG to tie it up. I'll say this, I've never seen three minutes of football like that ever.

w00t, I was wrong in both cases! YES! Steelers vs. Colts turned out against what most people were expecting. It didn't help that the FG was way off.

Steelers are going places. Pats aren't. Yippee.
