Did anyone else think the space battles were just too 2d?

Just thrased the Empire in the land battle on hard mode. A friend of mine told me they actually dumbed down the AI for the demo to lower the file size. Don't know if its true or not. Bringing Han and Chewie into the land battle owns. Captured the AT-AT with Chewie's special ability and basically mowed down their based with just the AT-AT once my y-wings and artillery units had taken care of the turrets.

Bull****. They'd save what, 500kb? Code isn't very big.

I suck at this game, i get wiped in seconds everytime in the land battle... what am i doing wrong?

After playing more, I noticed some annoyances. I wish that the troops wouldn't have to bunch up and could spread out in some various formations (this feature should be in the game, maybe I don't know how to do it) or disperse completely. Also, the Y-wings get cocky after a skirmish is concluded and continue to pursue in the direction of the incident. Finally, the ships seem to collide a lot when in groups yet it doesn't have any impact.

Like I said, don't know if its true or not. Some of the units seemed pretty stupid to me, especially the rebel artillery pieces.

I really like all the different possibilities. strategy is very important and it's refreshing to see it actually make a change.

the game needs more empire though

the land battle can be hard when you first land, make sure you have alot of rocket troopers when you land and have alot in re-inforcments for later in case you need them. Call in bombardment strikes againts the turret tower, then use the hover tanks to get into the base and take out the turrets, you can't attack them from the outside of the sheild generator.

I got blasted on my first try, the second time I had more then enough re-enforcments for the first attack to capture a second point and then bring in back up from there and flank the sheild generator.

Nah, the artillery are best. Land 2 squads of them at the first landing point and deploy them right there. Also land Han & Chewie. Nothing will get in.

Use the civilians to capture the other 2 points. Land 2 more artillery at each. Deploy them. You can deply artillery at the western base that can destroy the turret without being in range of it's blasters. Then you can use chewie to capture the AT-AT. Once you've got that it's easy. Use the artillery from the western base to destroy the turret through the shield and the artillery at the eastern base to get the other turret. The AT-AT can take care of the rest. Once the shield is down you can use a bombing run to take out the barraks and the shield generator.

Using this strategy I won the level in 5mins 37 seconds with 100% combat efficiency (No losses) :D
