No. No I don't. :em321:

took me a while to beat that.

The person who made this part of the map WILL get my eternal wrath.

Edit: Ah Ravenholm. I ran out of ammunition there. Depleted every gun. I was left with gravity gun and crow bar. I'm a terrible shot.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Two things that would have made Half-Life better:

1.) Mix it up a bit. It's okay to introduce gameplay elements gradually, but using them in one huge block is annoying. The hovercraft, dune buggy, antlions and placeable turrets should have appeared in several different parts of the game but for much shorter periods of time.

For much of the game you also encounter a single type of enemy. For instance, the first third of the game is dedicated to manhacks. The middle third is dedicated to headcrabs and zombies. The last third is dedicated to combine soldiers.

If Valve had broken up their gameplay elements the game would have been much less tedious and boring.

Some good examples of proper gameplay element utilization: Halo-series, Unreal Tournament 2004, Metroid-series, Zelda-series.

2.) No manhacks.

And different looking headcrab zombies.

Also, was there any point in the game where it wasn't linear?

Who says that's a bad thing. Linearity is a breath of fresh air to me after games like Morrowind

Meh, manhacks aren't that bad unless you have about 10 of them after you at once. with the gravity gun you can take them out pretty easily before they get in range.

The installation's the deadliest part - I nearly went catatonic waiting for it to finish.

I disagree Jon'c.

I liked that it was put in bulk like that, it was like telling a story with different parts dedicated to different things.

Like the Fellowship of the Ring. The hobbits in the first third, Rivendale/moria and such in the middle, then the final river/orc fights. I like that, it's more of an epic journey story thing.

Everytime I've ran through it, I was just fine on ammo. You just gotta time those shotgun blasts just right so it gets them in one shot. As for the hunched back headcrab zombies, explosives is your best friend. If you do happen to have only a crowbar and gravgun, try using the crowbar on zombies(slow ones) by smacking them, backing up, and repeat. Pistol is good for the little ones and keep practicing with the gravgun(sawblades are really good). Try these and you should do just fine.

As for the part I loathe, it has to be the part Cazor mentioned.
No sig.

I didn't mind the man hacks alone, but when there was combine soilders with them, then it got annoying... but with my grav gun I just plucked them outta the air and smashed them against the wall, or if possible, into another manhack, kill two hacks with one stone.
