Should I buy Final Fantasy X?
2006-01-29, 10:34 AM #1
I love Final Fantasy 7 (who doesn't?) Never really bothered with 8.. then I loved Final Fantasy 9 ...

If I buy FFX, then that'll mean I'll have to get FFX-2 ...

Or should I just wait for FFXII?

Really, is Final Fantasy X that good? That's the general jist :)

I really liked it. Plus it's dirt cheap now.

Final Fantasy X is alright. One of the better Final Fantasies for sure, but if you never liked FF8 you might not like X.

Avoid X-2 at all costs.

Get 8 instead.

Yes. Get 8.

I concur.

10 was ok, but nothing spectacular.
nope.

Get 8 and 6/4.

They sell it with Chrono Trigger or something. One of those anthology/chronology packs.

But with an emulationography machine you can use an xbox controller.

I still think 7 was the best...

But yeah, X was alright. I honestly had to force myself to push through some of the boring crap, in hopes of it getting better. It was kinda lame. Personally, I wouldn't buy it and I'd wait for the new Final Fantasy.
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.
Get 8 and 6/4.
You mean 6/3. 4 was a completely different game.

I'd say that 7 was the best, followed by 8, 5 and 3.
nope.

No he means 6/5. Those two were bundled on the PS1, and 4 and Chrono Trigger as well.

You lose, good day sir!

FF3 is the only FF I haven't played.

Hmm.

Actual FF3, not fake FF3/FF6.

FF3 is pure awesome.

Incorrect, he means 6/3 as they were the same game. Here 6/3 was released on it's own, while 4 and 5 were released together - FF Anthology. FF 1+2 also were released on the playstation together as FF origins.

Your move Sherlock.
nope.

Actually he got it right. I meant 6/4 because I thought those two were bundled. I know my final fantasies.

I am myself considering to play FFX from the start again, perhaps to start appreciate it more and tolerate the voice acting, but sure. Buy it.

FFX was nonsense. The worst final fantasy this side of Mystic Quest and FFX-2

FF6 -> FF4 -> FFT -> FFTA -> FF7 -> FF9 -> FF5 -> FF8 -> FF2 -> FF1

After you play all of those. Then you can get FFX. (Spatter in CT in there as well)

I thought mystic quest was rather fun.

Well, at least the music was interesting...

I'm with Boco, 'cause that's what I've got.

Get all of them. Except 10-2, because there is no excuse for that, SE. None.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

the real FF3 (NES) was pretty good, better than FF2 at least.

Auron and Kimahri are the only characters I really cared for in that game, but I still found it entertaining to play. Final Fantasy gameplay is rarely dull.

I think if you buy FFX, you'll thoroughly enjoy it. I was pleasantly surprised with the game after hearing so many bad things about it. Further proof that you shouldn't listen to blind FF fanboys that still consider FF1 to be superior to any of the contemporary installments in the series.

Hey, FF1 was damn awesome for the day. It was one of the best NES games by far.

Most people try to claim that either FF6 or FF7 were the best, usually because those were the first Final Fantasy games they played.

FF6 was weak.

Its main villain badass guy was a guy that dressed like a fruit and laughed stupid.
2006-01-29, 2:49 PM #33
Like several said: Get 8. It's sex on a stick. I prefered it FAR more than 7, which I disliked [Although, I didn't give it much of a chance.]

He also blew up a city with the point of a finger.

I've played all of them, and beaten all but 2 and 3 (originals). I can safely say that 8 is the best. Of course, I didn't play 10-2, but we don't talk about that.

The main villain in FF5 was made of wood. What's your point?

I do say FF6 is the best--but not because it's the first I played. First one I played was (obviously) FF1, then FF4, then FF6.

The Job/Ability system of FF5 needs to come back. Great. Now I got a hankerin' to play FF5. I'VE GOT HOMEWORK PEOPLE!

well, I've played (and given up on) 9 and 7. I liked 7 better.

I actually find the combat system and the dialouge to be quite annoying, which is why I can't ever go past the first 2/5 of the game.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

A-freaking-men

8 is good for a quick start. Parts are still a little slow, though.
