Just wondering..was all the rage back in the day. :p
woot!
2006-02-02, 5:12 AM #2
It's installed and I continue to play it when I get free time.
2006-02-02, 5:24 AM #3
It might still be installed on my old 350mhz back home. But on this computer or the 2 before it? No.

Still have the cds here though, just in case. :)

I was the first 'no' vote. :p

I don't even have JO or JA installed..though I do have KoToRII installed (never played it) & the EAW & Republic Commando demos..haven't played those yet either.
woot!

Newer games are fine... but a 1997 game that wasn't THAT great is another. Don't get me wrong, I loved it at the time... but come on. :p

I demand you play that RC demo immediately.

I wouldn't touch the other 2 with a 38.765 foot pole though.
nope.

Republic Commando was very fun. No Jedi Knight, I am too uber leet to even grace that game with my presence anymore.

I don't think age doesn't have much to do with something being fun.

Otherwise I would have ditched Star Wars years ago because "OMG IT'S LIKE OVER 20 YEARS OLD OMG".

You are right. But outdated gameplay and ugly graphics don't make up for a story that was good the first few times through or that its Star Wars..

But still, if you like the game, by all means keep it. :D I just don't. And think people who edit it are holding themselves back. I'd much rather see Ruthven making his awesome Star Gate mod for a newer game.

Yeah, they're ugly and the story sucks more than my pancreas, but that doesn't stop me from playing an old game anymore just because of it's age. Then again, I'd take Duke Nukem 3D (OMG OLD) or even Commander Keen 4 (OMG EVEN OLDER) over JK.

That's good and unlike the rest of this community, I won't hold that against you. I agree with your Ruthven point too :)

Mysteries of the Sith is still on my computer.

yes I have jk and mots installed, but it still freezes my computer sometimes. my comp is very broken it seems...

I also have AVP2 and JA

But nothing newer than that.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

You guys aren't getting it. People like Ruthven are pushing the limits of JK. And with amazing results.... JK editing is still popular because it is one of the 'best editable' games ever.

And JK outdated gameplay? Hah. The reason I prefer JK over JO and JA is BECAUSE of the gameplay. (Which sucks in JO / JA). Although I have to admit that I don't play regular JK, but SBX, because sabers is what I like about the game.

:(:(:(

If I win the million, I pledge I'll buy you a new computer and deliver it myself with a harem of asian chicks with me.

Well, that is if you pledge to work your *** off and make a Stargate mod for a newer game.

ZOMG I'm pushing a game to its limits, which... are still behind a few years in strength and technicality. And yes, the game is holding people like Ruthven BACK. But of course, that is his computer's fault. :p

You still don't get it. It's amazing to see what can be achieved with such an old game engine.

Not really, no. Doesn't impress me one bit. I can recognize some of the skill, yes, but no, not impressed at all.

Besides, you don't get what I say. The engine itself holds them back. But if they like editing it, then by all means they are free to. Living is about having fun, and if they are having fun doing it great.

But there is nothing impressive about working with an old engine, no matter how hard you push it.

Even expanding those open source code engines like Quake/2/3 would be good enough. Quake 2 Evolved is an amazing example how an old game can be expanded.

Yes I do. Playing through single player with different mods, like SSR and Stories Untold is *FUN*

I also have Deus Ex installed, but if you own the game and it isn't installed, you're going to hell.

It's not installed, but only due to the fact that I switched to a new HD a short time ago. I'll load'er up again when Ruthven's mod is out.
