Becoming a Nerd
2006-02-12, 5:57 PM #1
For my speech class we're required to write a "How To" speech, which explains in detail how to do something. I couldn't come up with anything else, so I decided to make my speech "How To Become a Nerd." I'm hoping that the speech will be at least somewhat humorous, and I figured that Massassi would be as good a place as any to look for ideas.

Soooo yeah, what are some requirements, in your opinion, for becoming a nerd/geek?

Anything that involves discouraging social skills is a good start.

Example: if you'd rather be playing videogames than going to a party that would involve things like dancing, talking, etc.

It happens when massassi takes your soul left at the door. Then and only then, are you a nerd.

Edit: Post your speech when you are done with it, this should be funny.

Everynerd is born a nerd; it just takes some of them more time than others to figure it out. ;)

btw, I'm really liking vegiemaster's idea with the 1337. It's a way to truly demonstrate your nerd-dome. ;)

Anti-socialism, or rather, only socializing with a geeky central group. When you start to crack jokes about computers/semi-obscure subjects in public. Valuing internet friends over real life friends.

You should include "lol," "wtf," and "ftw" in your speech. After that, try to re-enact the >_> face.

I gave a speech on D&D once for my public speaking class. I think I wore a Star Wars shirt too... :gbk:

Not really. Have you ever heard of Drum N' Bass? I definitely wouldn't call those guys nerdy. My friends listen to a lot of it, and they're not nerds. It CAN be "nerdy", but then again, so can pretty much anything.

Yeah, and that one anime director... myasaki or whatever is a genius. Not nerdy.

But the people that worship his films are nerdy.

Hence, the author of the work may not be nerdy, but the fanbase typically is.
