yeah, im pretty sure it's a joke kinda thing. you know how peter's boss is always trying to come up with shocking stuff to sell newspapers? i think they're trying to do something like that. venom/symbiote wasn't really drawn with the exact same outfit as the normal spiderman one, was he? i mean the artists don't just tint the suit black...?

Venom = Topher Grace , who has a similar build to Toby Mcguire.... so.... maybe?

Edit: Also, you can't see the spider symbol on his chest... so... perhaps?

i still say its a joke. i mean the director hates venom, and fans know it. so saying something like this that could be interpreted as a venom link would definately stirr up controversy.. which is all the Daily Bugle tries to do.

They've taken a few creative liberties with the movies... I wouldn't be surprised if the symbiote spider symbol didn't exist at all in the cinematic release.

In the cartoon, Peter was Venom for an episode or two, so that's probably what's going on there.

Yeah, but they also changed his regular costume from the comics. They could have changed the symbiote costume just as easily.

And the fact is, this is how things are always announced on that website. I follow it closely. This is not a joke. This is not venom. This is spiderman, wearing a black costume, and we all know what that means. There aren't any smoke and mirrors here, it's plain and simple, in your face for you to see. Just take it at face value, for what it is. It's an official announcement of the first Spiderman 3 teaser poster. Spiderman wears black in spiderman 3. READ.

Well, Peter did actually have a non-symbiote black costume at one point, if I remember correctly. It's still more likely to be the symbiote, but... yeah.

WRONG!

One thing the Spider-Man posters ALWAYS did was put something in the lense. The teaser posters for Spider-Man 2 has Doctor Octopus in the lense. In the original, original Spider-Man teaser poster, it shows the World Trade Center towers in the lense (later edited out and a new poster created). I think the later poster had the Green Goblin in it.

Hell go pick up a copy of Spider-Man 2 on DVD, the cover has Doctor Octopus in the eye lense.

Edit: Ok the second poster for the first Spider-Man didn't have anything, but the original posters for Spider-Man had the WTC and Spider-Man 2 had Doctor Octopus. I even have the Spider-Man 2 poster next to my computer and I opened it to check.

Being a huge Spider-Man a fan, I can't wait. This is definitley news, being on the official website. Can anyone else remember a time when someone pulled a stunt like this? I know I can't.

Eh, I highly doubt it's the symbiote. >.>;; It has too much of a suit/fabric texture to be that. I say it's either: A) dashing black & white image because that's the popular thing to do nowadays. Or B) A new black suit which Spidey will put on for whatever reason. I bet it's MJ's fault, saying he looks so much better in it. And being the lovestruck idiot that Parker is he immediatly goes ahead and dyes the suit.

Who cares if it's the symbiote or not, the cool thing is is unlike the rest of the teasers that were colorful and whatnot, this one definately casts the "this movie is going to be very dark" vibe.

Actually, I'd say if there was an image in the lense that's supposed to be there, it looks like Sandman instead. (Since he is about the only confirmed Villian.) Also, I don't know if anyone noticed, but when did they cast someone for Gwen Stacy?
