Kingdom Hearts 2

The game is coming out for PS2 on March 28th. The Japanese Famitsu magazine gave the game scores of 10/9/10/10 (39/40), which is exceptional.

It seems the game is going to resolve a lot of the first games issues, including

  • The shaky camera system.
  • The sometimes confusing level design (Tarzan World, I'm looking at you)
  • The somtimes boring level design (Mobby Dick)
  • Repetitive Gummi Ship Sequences

Even with the flaws, I thought the first game was surprisingly excellent. Looking forward to the sequel.

There is a new English trailer:

I still have to play through Kingdom Hearts, I want to buy it but it's still freaking expensive for being a soon 4 year old game.

Console games usually don't drop below $19.99 so you might as well buy it.

It's the FIRST and LAST game I will pre-order. I'm SO excited about this game, it's not even funny. The original is my favorite game ever. SO fun! Gah, I love that game so much. Why can't all games be this good? And to think, I avoided the game when it first came out, of course, because of the disney characters. Since I played it, I now own the special edition japanese version, unavailable in the states. I can't even play it.

I hope my PS2 doesn't do what it's been doing lately by shutting off randomly. Anyone know how to fix that? It's like EIT or ESI that's screwing things up.

That's what I thought. Seriously, play the game or be dubbed a complete idiot from now on. It's arrogance not to at least TRY it. Honestly, funnest game I've ever played. It went from "Haha, goofy!?" to "Wow, amazing."

Played about half.

Neat gameplay.

Goofy pisses me off.

Kingdom Hearts was fun, but the combat system was just god awful. That's the one thing I hope they fix.

Seriously, "X-X-X" combo + magic is not fun.....at all. The beginning in Traverse Town before you got magic was EXCRUCIATING due to the terrible combat system.

If you could get past it though, it was rather fun.

I played the first one, I dropped it. I couldn't stand the combat system, and seeing aeris and sephiroth along with aladin and goofy made me angry.

He's already been dubbed a complete idiot, I thought.

I can't wait. Kingdom hearts went the same for me. From "Haha, wow this is silly." To "gasp". Pretty much sums it up. I hear the second one isn't going to be as suited towards younger people.

After watching that new trailer, it appears it DOES feature tron. I'm not into gaming news, so I wouldn't have known about it. ++ respect for KH

I'm definitely looking forward to this game. I haven't been able to obtain a list, but I remember seeing alot of good English voice actors in the American version of the game. I know that Christopher Lee is involved along with Rachel Leigh Cook. I believe Cook is Tifa because that's who she is voicing in the English version of FFVII: Advent Children.

You thought the combat system was BAD!? Oh my god, you didn't use many skills then, did you? Towards the middle to end of the game, I was able to string combos so well I didn't get TOUCHED by the enemy. Few other games have that kind of ability-based combat. It's NOT button mashing, as different moves and combos combined with spells create easily controlled but knowledge/skill based actions.

And it will only get better in the next game.

Oh, and for you FF fanboys: do different sids piss you off? No? I didn't think so. The characters in this game are just different renditions of your known characters: Let it be.

Uh... Cid is just a name that gets carried over from game to game, along with Biggs and Wedge. Kingdom Hearts has the actual character, not just the name.

I'm stuck at Halloween town, and it's been so long since I played I'd suck if I went back and started again...

One of my friends is completely buzzed waiting for this game. So am I, but I want to beat KH 1 first.

well good:
It's not a serious game.

but on the other hand it is one of the deepest most serious games I have ever played.

if you played it you would understand

OH I can't wait for KH II, It's not pre-ordered yet :(
Oh I don't know what I'm going to do I'm poor.

all I know is the game will be awesome, it should be another of those Mary Poppins games...practically perfect in every way.

up there w/ FFVII, Chrono Trigger, The Ocarina of Time, and of course the first Kingdom Hearts.

I just didn't like it. Telling me I'm wrong isn't going to change anything. And I didnt say the combat system was bad, I said I didn't like it. Let people have their opinions for christ sakes.

It's $20 now, right? My PS2 library is painfully small, maybe I'll pick it up. (KH1 that is).

The game I'm looking forward to most though is Dirge of Cerberus, for obvious reasons.

I'm probably going to get PS2 just for the game.

I wanna play as Sephiroth :(

There are not a lot of PS2 games I really like, but these ones I recommend:

Kingdom Hearts
Dragon Quest VIII (wow...surprise hit of 2004 for me)
Shadow of the Colossus
Resident Evil 4 (if no Gamecube)
Final Fantasy X
God of War

KH is surprisingly serious. Yeah, you've got some non-serious-just play it. Play it without bias and you'll start to find how good the game really is.

Yes. And playing it would be easier if... you know... I had a playstation. Which I don't. Having money to spend on a game would also help, but alas... I lack this as well.

Honestly, I shouldn't be expecting anything, but I was just kinda hoping they'd leave original themes intact. You know, Final Fantasy X surprised me when Suteki da ne managed to find its way into the game in one piece. Looking back, I suppose it was probably just Square being lazy.

Honestly, someone must have thought that Simple and Clean was an adequate translation of Hikari, but it certainly wasn't me. In fact, I didn't even see the song fitting the game all that well...

Now, I understand that literal translations of songs pretty much never fit with the music, but I just feel that it's all the more reason to leave the song in its original language...

At least, I'm reasonably sure that this is why you don't find english versions of Die Fledermaus.

This is going to be a high-quality game and reviewers are going to love it. Not playing a game just because the visual style is "lame" is stupid. Play games because they're good, not because of the way they look from screenshots.

Have you ever heard the term "Noir" Aaron? Literally, the way they incorporate the cartoons into the mix is fantastic. I thought exactly what you did before playing the game, and for god's sake, look at my title. It takes a LOT to impress me. I'm not only telling you it's a good game, it's MY FAVORITE GAME EVER RELEASED. That in itself should tell you that the "content" is deceiving.

Furthermore, I'm sure you've watched a disney movie before. You know the entire amazing art thing disney does? Bring that into a videogame, because every inch of the game is absolutely stunning. I hated cel-shading before this game, until I saw it used correctly.

And the storyline? A lot darker and more sinister than you'd expect. I mean, we all played Crash Bandacoot, didn't we? However cartoony that was, it had a unique style and humor to it's own. What about that lizard character's game? Oh! Earthworm Jim went through some of the same things you're talking about.

Seriously. Play the game. You'll be ashamed you knocked it so much after you do.

Yeah, the story line isn't childish. The content that the little kids will probably get through is the generic "go to this world and fight alongside tarzan!" but the game IS difficult, and past the happy-go-lucky worlds, it's actually quite dark.

Judging a game by the setting and characters (just because they happen to be mostly Disney and childlike in theme) is not exactly judging the game's content. For all you know, this could be the funnest game ever with gameplay that blows you away. And you're not going to play it because it has Donald Duck?

Ah pity da foo'.
