I'm arguing with someone on MSN on which is the better console of last gen. Xbox or PS2. I say PS2, he says Xbox. I'm not including GCN because it's not part of our arguement. Pick which console you think is better.

XBOX because it has more PC ports (aka better games), and better multiplayer. Not to mention better controllers.

Dualshock > Controller S. I just didn't like the Controller S. And if I wanted PC games, I'd pay the money for a PC, not go for an Xbox. Any simple minded person knows that ports generally are half-assed (HL2 port, Halo to PC) and suck compared to the original.

I'm used to the shape of the Xbox's controller, but honestly, I prefer the tiny size of the PS2 itself. It weighs like a pound. I'm really not overly biased toward either console anyway, I just voted Xbox because I own one.

Also, consoles are way way cheaper than a good computer, so that's why ports are good sometimes.

Me, I picked Xbox mainly because I absolutely hate dualshock. Sure there are some cool games for PS2, but what good's a game when you feel uncomfortable holding the controller?

i've cracked a dualshock just by gripping it too tight... and the analog sticks are too loose

an MS controller... you can pause a game, use the controller as a skull shattering weapon on the guy sitting next to you, then continue playing... and xbox->pc adapters are cheaper than a PS2 adapter (or you can easily make one yourself)

halo was suppose to be for the pc at first. and btw halo for the pc FTW!! expect for the no co-op mode ;(

It totally depends on what you're going for. X-Box is a far better party/mp console. The PS2 shines in single player and adventure games. It honestly depends on what kind of a gamer you are.

I like the Xbox for it's modding capabilities.

But I still stand by PS2 for all of its games

PS2. The dualshock is superior to XBox's huge blob with buttons, and PS2 has a wider selection of games. Though XBox does have better graphics capabilities, I'll sacrifice graphics for game choice anyday.

i think it depends on the kind of games you want to play. ps2 has some good games, xbox has some good games. just depends on what genre of games you want to play more.

Actually, many multiformat games are better on consoles. As a PC gamer, I've seen loads of lazy conversions over the years, many seem to be designed with consoles more in mind as that's where the $$$ is.

The PS2 has had so many great games in the last year or so that it beats the Xbox easily. And this comes from someone that thought the PS2 sucked for the first 3 or 4 years of its lifespan.

Both consoles seem to have great games, but I vote for PS2 since it still has Final Fantasies and I'm kind of a FF nerd.

I remember seeing screenshots when Halo was a mac only third person multiplayer only game (64 people playing at once, when 4 in JK was alot), It looked so cool.... too bad they ruined it with generic FPS gameplay and standard multiplayer (Not even online til the second version, truely abysmal)

Never once did I say it wasn't an opinion thing, but seeing as how he said I was wrong, I came to Massassi to hopefully prove him wrong. Turns out that Xbox IS winning, but it's an opinion thing so I'm not worried. I don't really care. I never once said it wasn't an opinion thing, but he did when he said I was wrong.

Oh, and this is more or less the way the conversation went. I didn't say things in such an intelligible way most of the time, and there was the obligatory f***er or prick thrown in after every line since it was an online argument.

For the most part, I agree. Between me and my brothers, we own all 3 systems anyway. My biggest things are the wrestling games, where obviously the PS2 blows every other system out of the water. I got my Gamecube for my Nintendo goodness: Zelda, Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros. And the X-box for Halo. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. I am not a weak person, but hauling around an X-box does kinda suck after a while compared to the PS2 and GC.
