PS2 or Xbox?
2006-03-06, 8:10 AM #41
xbox. people may be anti-microsoft, but i based my desicion off of capability. i saw splinter cell on xbox and ps2, then went in the direction of xbox. if i'm going to buy a console, i expect to play games that are both fun and visually appealing. i don't look back on that decision at all, especially after seeing the ps2 in full glory with the horrible graphics on gta: san andreas... i laughed at a friend who was all PS2 ROCKS LOOK AT THIS INSANE GAME. i said, "that looks like ****." he was like, "whatever, man. you're just biased." then i lugged over my xbox and showed him halo 2. he shut up.

Given the sheer size of San Andreas, I think the graphics are more than adequate.

Especially considering the outside environment has absolutely NO LOADING ZONES.

Thats amazing if you ask me.

If you play games for graphics you don't get to have an opinion over good games.

San Andreas isn't one of them Rob.

PS2 has more games I actually enjoy. Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Katamari Damacy, MGS, Grand Theft Auto, et al

Xbox has Halo. Which I don't even like that much.

ok a small comparison (which i'll add to later right now i'll start with the controller)

controllers

Xbox:
"The Duke"
Pros: extremely sturdy, can be used as a weapon, analog triggers, perfect level of resistance on the sticks
Cons: OMGHUGE, button placement could be better

Controller S
Pros: extremely sturdy, can be used as a weapon, good comfortable size, nice button placement, analog triggers, perfect level of resistance on the sticks
Cons: black and white buttons should have been shoulder buttons (certain third party controllers fix this)

PS2:
Dual Shock 2
Pros: good overall button placement, best directional pad
Cons: not that sturdy (i've cracked one by gripping it too tight), almost no resistance on the sticks, analog buttons aren't the best for precise control

Play Black on the PS2. Some of the particla/haze effects are amazing. The guns are in amazing detail, and look sexy as hell.

And I agree with Rob. If you don't like a game because of sucky graphics, you don't get to have an opinion. Now excuse me while I go play DOOM because it's FUN.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Now I don't feel so bad for arguing about video cards.

Yeah. Sprites. "A miracle of graphics and technology." It looks like Quake 3 based game. Never seen that before.

I'm sorry I found the game's graphics stunning, are you happy now? Ok, now that I've lied I can say that no matter what the game kept a good frame rate through even the largest battles (only one slow down, and I'm on the last mission) and that I found the graphics stunning compared to what I'm used to for my PS2. The haze effects for distance, gun detail and sexiness, and just overall look of the game was very good compared to most of the PS2 games out their.

The game looks amazing considering what most half assed PS2 games (this one wasn't half assed) look like. And I've never seent the Q3 engine at 100%, so I'm not going to comment that it's 8578275834587348571238x better than Q3.

Damn all you elitists. People like to do what's fun, what they enjoy. Just because it's not what you find to be fun or enjoyable, doesn't mean either of you are wrong. This is a PS2/XBox thread, not a "let's talk about PCs" thread. Get off it.

You are in this thread, aren't? You read what I posted, didn't you?

This thread is good enough, then.

Your post would have been far more appropriate in this thread.

You don't count. You don't kill your food before you eat it.

I liked my Xbox before I modded it too. But I wouldn't trade it in for a 360 let alone the PS2 now that it does all that it does. There's a really nice Xbox Media Center skin that'll be out soon that looks just like the 360 dashboard. :D Mmm!
