Bought this case for the spacing and internal architecture, not for the looks. (And I have the silver version, not the black.)

I'll be upgrading when the DX10 cards come out. I'd like to keep the case, but the five fans make it really loud. Maybe I'll try installing a water cooling system or something. Gonna have to find a way to plug the holes if I take out the case fans though.

Bleh. LED cases r lose. I've already got enough lights in my room, what with the modem, two routers, switch...

It'd be damn near impossible to get to sleep with that thing on.

Which is why I have it in my living room and I sleep in my bedroom. Small apartments and living by myself FTW. Also, I bought the case from ThinkGeek, and they didn't advertise that the fans had LEDs. I'm don't like it myself, but I don't want to replace them with standard black fans. I'd have to find some clear ones.

I don't have that many leds on mine and I have trouble sleeping with it on, so I just turn it off at night except when I'm downloading stuff. (not torrents <.<) If I do have to leave it on, I end up building a fort around the desk with a few blankets, a big leather chair in front of the case and pillows.

Mine's getting up there.

Athlon XP 1800+ (~1.6 ghz)
dunno motherboard
768 mb of some sorta ram
tiny hard drives and crappy rpm
128 mb radeon 9800+ pro

It's still hangin' in there. ;)
It runs games like HL2, CivIV quite well. Quake 4 is very sluggish on it.

Freelance, you might manage a pretty good framerate in Quake 4 on high at 1024x768 with 2x AA and 4x AF. I used to manage that with my 9600 XT (128mb) and a similar rig. The only true difference is I had more RAM. Of course I'm not saying you'll hit the 50s, but you'll have something playable with a few small slow downs here and there.

It be's quite true! :)

My rig (got an X1900XT instead of a 7800GT) runs the game maxed out, 4x AA, 16xAF, Bodies on full, smooth smoke edges on everything, all texture options on extra, 1600x1200, etc. and I don't even have to overclock it.

Haven't had any stutter in the game yet.

You shouldn't have bought an ATI card.

The X1900XT more than holds its own. I'm starting to doubt your reasoning behind the hate on the cards--the X1800 was actually a much better card than you portrayed as well. They've found a way to more efficiently use the technology nVidia is pushing.

....you're starting to doubt the fact that ATI hasn't released a X1000-series Linux driver?
I've never complained about the performance of my X1800 either. Where did you get the idea that I was upset with ATI's hardware? Do you even read what other people say, or do you just think "LOL NVIDIA FANBOY" and then make up crap like this the next time the subject is discussed?

Basically I'm asking if it's a congenital issue or something that's drug-related.

So then why did you say I shouldn't have bought it? Why would I regret buying an ATI when its held true in every single game and has totally blown me away, not to mention that its blown away the 7800GT. It runs great, keeps a very good temperature, has excellent drivers and overclocking tools. Not to mention that the few games that I did bother to buy a new computer for are shader-based games.

Nor have I ever had any trouble with any of my previous ATI's. The 6800GT was one of my first nvidia cards and while I liked it, its temperature was aweful. My x1900xt is much cooler. Perhaps it was a defect in the 6800GT, technically it shouldn't heat as much as the x1900. But then... there you go. I've had more trouble with nvidia. :p

As for Linux? I use windows, and i have no intention to EVER use Linux.

Either way. I'm not one to get biased towards a company, I'll take the best any of them had to offer, and right then it was the x1900xt. Of course the 7900 is out now, its a bit stronger, sure, but bleh, now (even my x1900) is pretty much overkill. Not to mention that I got an extremely good deal on the x1900xt that saved me quite a few 100$s.

You shouldn't have bought it because ATI is not interested in supporting their products beyond the absolute minimum necessary to make a sale. The implications here should be obvious.

I'm not sure what you were aiming for, but given that the only 'G' in "megahertz" is part of the metric prefix I believe you should no longer be allowed to post anything on this forum that involves the use of a unit of measure again.

Pretty much everything is at stock, except the RAM which is underclocked to PC2700 speeds, mainly because of the motherboard. Though, with this system, it's not exactly like it would make a noticeable difference at the higher speed.

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
ASUS A7S333
Radeon 9600XT
1GB(2x512MB) PC3200 Corsair Value
300GB Seagate Barracuda (7200.8), 40GB Maxtor (D740X model or somesuch)
Lite-ON LTR-52327S (CD-writer)

Oh yeah, and a 620W Enermax Liberty which will be going into my next rig.

And the case... er... yeah. It's some no-name brand case that I got when I upgraded to an Athlon 1200 a few years ago.

Well my processor seems to be holding up to Massassi standards still, but it looks like I might need to upgrade this video card soon. I'll see how it fares on the next generation of games.

Specs:

AMD FX-55 (San Diego 1MB Cache core)
2GB RAM (PC3200)
6800GT 256MB BFG
40GB HD
120GB HD
160GB SATA HD
DFI Ultra-D Nforce4 mobo (no SLI, cause I will never, ever use it)
Some POS 580watt PSU (yeah I know thats a lot more than necessary, I just got it real cheap, figure if its rated for 580, it might just do 450 :p. It does look sweet though :D )
SB Audigy2 Value

Oh, and my case is almost exactly the same as the one above, just a darker metallic grey and a window in the side. Nothing fancy besides, but it is a kick-*** functional case.

Even at 1280 x 1024 your look at frames often in the mid 20's. Still, that doesn't bother many people in COD 2 much as the frame rate's pretty stable. Also, a factory OC gives very little performance, it may make the game slightly smoother, but it won't be a humongous difference over stock. (~5% difference if your lucky)

EDIT: You weren't running at full AA though. That would have butchered your frame rate.
