I have the utmost respect for blizzard, I believe they are a gem in the rough of the video game industry.

That is, they were. They've succumbed to the almighty dollar. WoW is a cash cow, and they are milking it for all it's worth. There's an update on WoW every day, they have people working around the clock on the expansion, and abandoning customer service in lieu of making a few extra bucks.

This is the nail in the coffin. WoW will start to fail, and they'll be bloated with people that only know how to change things, and listen to people moan. They're removing the RTS people, and replacing them with stagnant MMO creators, with little to no creativity.

Have you been following Ghost at all?

Originally it was developed by Nihilistic. A long time ago, Blizzard took over the game because Nihilistic was doing a poor job. The PR folks called it "final polish", but it's easy to see through that excuse.

Ghost simply isn't ready. Blizzard has invested a lot of time and money in the game and it's in their best interests to finish it. You're calling WoW a cash cow, but what would Ghost be if it's a terrible game that milks the Starcraft franchise? If Blizzard isn't releasing Ghost, it's because Ghost sucks.

The point is, when was the last time you heard blizzard release anything about any other game than WoW in the past 3 years?

I'm glad Blizzard is focusing on the expansion.

I wish they would do Starcraft 2, but I think they'll only do that when they've run WoW to the ground and need to have another hit.

In my opinion, Blizzard went to **** the day Bill Roper left. I'm looking to Flagship for my future awesome titles, and Hellgate: London looks to deliver.

I care not for WoW or Starcraft. The Diablo franchise is one of the few I'm impressed with, so until they announce D3, I'm fairly uninterested.

WoW seems like a solid game, I just prefer a darker atmosphere.

It's been "unofficially announced", though I can't imagine it being good. All the people responsible for Diablo's success went to Flagship.

Some Czech musician claimed he was asked to compone music for a third Diablo game, while the Blizzard website says they're loking for developers to work with the D1 and D2 team on a new game. Why does this give me ideas?

An update a day? Ha. Hahahahaha! Please, stop teasing.

Personally, I don't think it's so outrageous that Blizzard puts a lot of effort into World of Warcraft. They've already put tons of work into it to make it work, it is an MMORPG and not something they can just dust their hands off and say "Done!", and they have a very large audience they have to please. Besides, we already have a Starcraft FPS. It's called Alien vs Predator.

I still think Hellgate: London will be the Diablo 3 everyone's looking for--same style of game, same kind of setting, with most of the important members of the Diablo team working on it.

The only RPGs i've ever really got heavily into are the two Warren Spector classics. I can't wait for the new one, was it Biowar? I'm sure it was Bio-something...

Not really. iD, Epic, the recently deceased Ion Storm, and Bethesda have all kept true to their ideals. Some companies out there are still true to the core gamers, most are just cash cows, but some are still good.

Bioware, Nintendo (minus their flagrant cash cow games like Mario Party), Bungie, Namco , Lionhead, Silicon Knights, and Valve are the only other companies I can think of. To be totally blunt here, though, I think the only reason most of them aren't so cash cow-y is because they take forever to make games.
2006-03-26, 3:01 AM #22
I can't care a thing about WoW, I should still play my copy of Starcraft I've had lying around for years and uh... pie.

Then again, the Xenosaga series has lost them some heavy points. I guess I'll strike them from my list.

Warren Spector has nothing to do with Bioshock (or System Shock 2 for that matter).
2006-03-26, 3:37 AM #28
I though Warren Spector was Mr System Shock? I know he's got nowt to do with Bioshock, but that it's meant to be the spiritual sequel to SS2.
2006-03-26, 3:46 AM #29
He did System Shock 1, and Deus Ex 1 and 2. Not SS2 though.

Well, they're both using Unreal engines. :p

Also, DX community blames DX2's fate due to Spector giving his right-hand man Harvey Smith more power to decide on things with DX2, but then again Smith can't be ultimately blamed since he contributed a lot of good things to DX.

I didn't mean an actual version update a day, but there's an update on the main page nearly every day.

And the reason I want another starcraft game isnt for the gameplay, which is always awesome, but for the story. Blizzard are masters of lore and storytelling, starcraft and the Warcraft RTSs always kept me on my toes wondering what would happen in a way that Diablo or WoW could ever do.

To be honest, i think the most true to gamer company is 3d realms. DNF as we all know it has been dissed, flamed and torn to pieces as we know it. The company image itself is tainted with humiliation, yet they are still ticking away at the game, even if they started over 3 times! I think that no other company is more true to gamers than 3d realms. If your interested in learning more about the game, just drop over at 3drealms.com and the community will gladly tell you about DNF's current state.

silent_killa, I'm reasonably certain that if I went to a website called 3dreams.com whilst on a government computer, bad things could happen to me.
