Favorite Webcomics
2006-03-25, 11:39 PM #1
Well, since me and good old FGR were talking about webcomics in the chat, I thought I may as well make a favorite webcomics thread. For me, it's definitely General Protection Fault:

Awesome comic, amazing storyline, the creator updates EVERY DAY. Really is awesome. But mostly story-driven, and the only humor in there is usually oriented towards geeks.

How about you guys?

GPF of course :)

I frequently check ~20 webcomics, but I guess my true favorites include PVP, Order of the Stick and Sinfest (at least).

I do also get Dilbert emailed to me at work every day, which I'm sure gbk will be happy about.

Dilbert is frighteningly close to the bone sometimes.

White Ninja, Dinosaur Comics, Questionable Content

All pretty much equal in my mind. They're each funny in their own ways I read a couple of others, but I always save those for last.

I used to check a lot of webcomics. Nowadays I pretty much limit myself to Penny Arcade and Sluggy Freelance with occasional doses of White Ninja, Toothpaste for Dinner, Dr. McNinja, and Rob and Elliot. I'd keep up with NeSI... if we ever updated. I wonder how Geb's doing with courting our new artist (not literally).

It's not a matter of convincing them (as they actually asked me if they could try doing the art, not the other way around, surprisingly). It's a matter of them finding the time and such to take a crack at it. I personally don't see much happening until the summer, but we'll see. If said person doesn't seem to be able to help by the summer, I'll see about advertising for an artist wanted-thing.

As for comics I regularly read these days, they include Sinfest, Dominic Deegan, CAD, Gaming Guardians, 8-bit, PA, Concerned and tailsteak (and Sluggy only on Saturdays these days).

i read so many webcomics that they are organized in their own folders by update days. (daily and sunday-saturday, then a folder for non-/infrequently-updated comics.)

PS - Geb: Did you have more than one person apply for the artist job? cause i'm still willing to do it. like i said before, e-mail me. i'm not on the net much anymore other than radom forum browsing, and i almost never IM anymore, but you have my e-mail address, or PM me on here. i'm still around, just mostly lurking.

e-mail me we'll talk.

I'm surprised... I've only seen Penny Arcade pop up 3 or 4 times. Definitely my favourite webcomic, and I think it's updated daily. I could be wrong, though.

Penny Arcade has lost funny lately. It has its moments, but it really needs to get back to the old true funny bashing. Nowadays most of their comics require you to read the news to understand the joke, which is lame.

Not really. Save for the whole bum storyline, I've been perfectly fine with Penny-Arcade recently. They're pretty good usually. I read the articles more for their entertainment factor than to get an explanation of what the comic's about--though it usually helps me understand more to the point what the comic's about, it's not neccesary to enjoy said comic. And if you're complaining about reading the genius writings of Tycho, then I'd like to know what you CAN stand to read.
