Oh god.. Paraduck... just the name makes me wretch.

I'll admit to Reactor CTF, Duel Abyss, Duel Turbulent, Duel Dustball, and even the CCCP, but not Sky High! (my first, be kind!) Ok so maybe I will.

Out of curiosity... where was that pic of him and his dad and some other kid at the ACPL?

Gonk, you know, you can make an account with someone else. You don't have to stick with one e-mail. Yahoo has worked wonderfully for me. You should try it some time. Also, there is a difference between not finding a use for something and realizing it is novelty.

Was it Tab? I remember Tab ran it a lot of times...

I think.

Hehehe.

And yeah, you're right. I doubt anyone else, but him would've been able to get that question, heh.

I've tried Yahoo and Hotmail. I never liked either of them.

Gmail is oddly different somehow. I can't quite place it.

Maybe its the conversational-style or something, or the (current) lack of spam or something.. all I know is my Yahoo and Hotmail accounts (which are now long dead, I'm sure) were spam troughs within the first 48 hours. I haven't gotten any yet with Gmail. Probably won't last, but still.

Beyond that, I've got the gmail account now, so why bother with Yahoo or Hotmail?

It's the 1337 interface that makes it feel nothing like a crappy web based mail system I tell you!

Super fast too. On dialup even it's insanely fast. No bloat like with others.

I couldn't remember the hat one.. I was thinking a fez of some variety.
2004-06-18, 7:59 PM #49
ooooh, I thought you were one of the people going nuts that they weren't getting an account yet. Regardless, e-mail is pretty trivial and having to delete spam isn't hard at all.

No I have a gmail account already.

Yeah email is pretty trivial, but when you get the massive amounts of spam I get, its kind of nuts. I've actually stopped using email a lot simply because its such a massive pain to just go in and scan through my emails for the good stuff...

I use Mailwasher Pro on the other email accounts I have, and I probably get anywhere in the range of 200-1000 spam mailings a day... its nuts.

Now you give me a place to send it to since you had to answer the question. =P

Oh, and you guys will be disappointed in this. The rabbit is a wimp now. I stood there and beat on him(still can't kill him alone due to his regen rate) for a few minutes one day, and he couldn't kill me(never tried to smite). All those new changes they made and they completely overlooked him.

I don't use email much at all. Only for online orders and school related stuff that requires it. My server has a great filter though, and nothing's gotten through yet.

Not really nerfed, just didn't improve him when they improved everything else.

Really surprised me since about a month ago I decided to give AC a try again.

They pissed me off with some of the changes they made. They upgraded the Sword of Lost Hope(and the SoLL, made it look really neat), but people who had old ones didn't get the upgrade. You have to do the quest again, and I don't know if you remember how many times I died on that quest, heh. It's still useless in comparison to loot weapons though.

The ISP email gets spam innately because my ISP probably has them all listed somewhere stupid, and my mother has signed up for stuff with it.

The gonk@swgalaxies.net address is easily catchable because it was on the website a lot.

I vaguely remember that quest.

In beta doing the SoLL quest was akin to being a god. I used to envy the people who had that thing, as back then it was actually useful. And if you could actually ACTIVATE the enchanment, my god people freaked. I remember a crowd surrounded some guy in Crag who sat around equipping/unequipping the SoLL just to show off that he could activate it. Then he ran out of mana on it and people started giving him mana stones...

maybe it's just yahoo, but I don't get that much and I've signed up to several things. Yahoo is usually good at filtering spam into the Bulk folder. You can also tell Yahoo what addresses are spam and which aren't. Quite useful. And also, every once in awhile you find a useful bit of spam.

I just wish WoW would hurry up and give me a beta account, lol. There are so few compared to other games it seems, heh. I know two people who have them, heh.

It has something strangely appealing about it that for a moment makes me think "This might not bore me after a month like the other dozen games I've tried."

Yeah, I'm not going to go that far with it, heh.

Though from the screenshots and such, it seems like it has an AC-like quality in its interesting environments. Not found another game that's been like that yet. SWG was all "Yay, more randomly generated terrain." DAOC was all "This place just looks boring."
2004-06-18, 8:42 PM #65

AC events pretty much devolved into "Who can finish the new quest first to grow their e-peen?"
2004-06-18, 8:49 PM #67
Isn't that how they were from the start?

I can remember that way back in the sudden season...

AND ESPECIALLY when Aerlinthe was new... trying to figure out that quest... and then having people beating it daily...

Back then it wasn't always the same old people trying to do it every time though.

Not to mention people actually wanted to see what happened or get the neat new item with it. Now it's just "OMG, a few hundred people saw my name, I'm gonna go pleasure myself now!"
2004-06-18, 8:57 PM #69
very true...

Again Paraduck comes to mind, with the queen quest...

wasn't there a point at which the entire server wanted him dead?

Still are quite a few that do. Still are just as many with their head up his *** though.

It's sad that a kid would essentially devote his entire teenage life through high school to a video game. I think he actually would miss school for patches and stuff like that.
2004-06-18, 9:08 PM #71

Rofl, 8 months game time. That's like roughly 20% of the last few years of his life, lol. That's not including other characters too.

Sad, heh, really sad.

Then you count in the time he spends on the vault site, since they were stupid enough to put him in charge of it. Then count the time he just stares at its boards to make sure no one's making fun of him.

Then there's AC2, which I think he may still play, but even if he doesn't, he did for a while...

You factor all that in and the laws of time prohibit that kid from ever possibly having a life.
2004-06-19, 5:19 AM #77
heh, I just realized you wrote heh in the title of the post. Good one, LOL!

I wouldn't mind a gmail account, and I'll probably get one when they are more common or public, but I wouldn't reallly battle someone for it. Personally I don't use my e-mail that much to require 1000 megs. It has some serious potential for taking games to my school though [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
