The English system SUCKS
2006-05-16, 5:38 PM #1
I, personally, am partial to Metric. Easier, makes sense, as opposed to "5280 ft/mi". Where the heck does that come from?

Which do you prefer (and all who vote English system are commies)?
I had a blog. It sucked.

Metric FTW.

Metric can suck it.
Think while it's still legal.

You mean English can suck Metric's 25.

Saying "You can suck my 25" sounds so much better than "You can suck my 9" or whatever the hell that conversion equals out to be.
I had a blog. It sucked.

metric is good... feels right.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Metric?

Oh, and of course Metic is better than the silly American system.

(Metric is one of the best bands in the world. It's even the song thingy on my MySpace >.>)

It's not American. It comes from England. The US "adopted" it being that the US was former English colonies.
Pissed Off?
2006-05-16, 6:00 PM #9
We use it in America, so it's technically also an American system of measurement.

And I never make fun of England, or call anything there "Silly". >.>

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm pretty sure the commies use metric, smart guy.

The metric system, of course, makes much more sense...but the English system is so deeply seating that most of the time it is fr more appropriate for measuring things here in America. For example, roads here in oklahoma are all one mile apart.

Take a bunch of science courses that stick with SI units and one will quickly lose sight that anything exists beyond metric.

So yeah, go metric.

Metric makes more sense since its in increments of 10 but like any other American, I'm too deeply rooted in the Imperial system to make a switch.

I would lean towards "Imperial" units for being named as such, but the system really does suck. It's only cool when you use units like hands and furlongs.

It's all about the metric baby, but it's gonna take a while to get there. I reckon my generation is ready to embrace it, so we've just gotta wait for the oldies to die off.

Strangest thing in Finland... they still use pint glasses, but you get a half litre of beer instead, with a couple of cm gap at the top. It does not look right.

So yeah, mine's a litre of Fosters.... mmmm

I like the old system in fantasy novels. It fits perfectly the medieval world. Metric system would look badly and totally out of place, if somebody was stupid enough to even try it.

do any science course and you will learn to use metric and forget about imperial units.

although saying that, NASA still managed to use both in satelite course projections once, that resulted in it crashing into Mars' surface...looks like the two units don't mix,

Metric FTW

It's not called English, it's called Imperial you ****.

Like Det, I use a mile is equal to about 1600m.

I like imperial, even though I have to admit Metric makes more sense, but only measurements of distance. [Ok, and weight on products.] Metric Time and using metric to weigh yourself however, can die in a hole.
nope.

The only reason for quoting the above statements is that we practically had the same ideas in the same arrangement.
