And pack the cities even more than most are already? Are you dumb or something?

Hehe, most of you would probably choke by the gas prices around here.

At least that's what I've been told. Gas, schmas.

Probably.

Either way you don't hear me *****ing when the price goes for .94 to 1.30 simply because I have an economic car and whats 5$ more every few days.

Half?
The Civic hybrid is supposed to do about 40mpg, but one man claims the most hes gotten out of it is 33mpg. Not nearly half, and still a decent amount of mpg.

It all depends how you drive too. If you drive uphill and accelerate a lot, youre wasting gas. Speeding wastes gas.

Plus, the stated MPG for a car is based on perfect driving conditions.

quote from first link.

"Twenty-seven percent of the food produced for human consumption annually in the US is thrown out as waste."

"Recovering only 5 percent of the food lost would represent one day's worth of food to four million people."

the other is an article that tells a story.

Hybrids get better gas mileage in town and worse highway, so you need to know your needs.

I hit a buck oh three last night on the I-15.

Amy got a ticket for doing 85 in a 65 zone. $220 + traffic school.

Quite true. The electric assistance only works when he car is accerating or idling, making it most efficent for city driving. It's jsut a regular engine when it gets out onthe highway.

Bio Diesel is a little harder to make right, than what they showed in Mythbusters.

What you aren't realizing is that the mix they made didn't have any addatives to keep it from freezing.

Also, Bio Diesel does cost money to properly produce. About Seventy-Five cents a gallon.

Sure, you can pour cooking oil into your diesel tank after filtering it, but it isn't going to start a cold engine.

You can go warp speed on I-15 from Mission Valley to the Canadian border.

CR said it was closer to 21 MPG under normal circumstances. Sure you could coast on hills, turn off the AC, and drive at 50MPh on the highway, but who wants to? It's just that real world situations don't take advantage of the hydrogen moter the way that synthetic perfect condition tests do.

A regular engine with the added weight of two heavy useless electric motors. :)

I'm sorry...which one of those links show's it bull**** that there isn't enough food to feed everyone and fuel our cars? Because all those show is there isn't a reason for starvation aside from money. I don't think you quite understand just how much fuel we consume just for vehicles. The U.S. is the 3rd largest producer of oil in the world, and yet we don't make the top 10 exporters simply because we consume a massive amount of domestic oil.

Just to clarify, Roach wasn;t asking about there being enough food to feed the world. He's saying that feeding the world and making fuel from crops would be very hard to do.

Plus a TERRIBLE IDEA. Overpopulation is bad enough already... and will eventually contirubte to our downfall as a species.

Not completely true. There are certain areas of the world, pretty much in developing nations, where population growth is far higher than replacement rates. In developed nations, the growth rates are quite low, approaching replacement rates, or in some cases, dropping below.
