There was an episode of DS9 where the crew somehow time travelled back to the original series episode about tribbles. I think the titles were Troubles with Tribbles and Trials and Tribblations, or something similar... though I don't know which is which.

At any rate, the DS9 crew is sitting in the cafeteria or whatever with Worf, and some old style Klingons come in. After an uncomfortable moment, one of the DS9ers asks Worf why they're different.

He said he didn't want to talk about it.

Actually, they finally explained that whole thing in a season 4 episode of Star Trek: Enterprise. Basically, it was a project to genetically enhance Klingons that sort of failed, and the side-effect came from the cure or something, I believe.

I don't know. Hogan would con Kirk out of the Enterprise.

Granted Firefly and Serenity were good, but they weren't exactly great.

I never said I didn't like it. I just don't think it was any better than average in general.
nope.

That's because it never had a chance to show how brilliant it was. It never got time to develop.

Agreed Serenity was pretty good, but it was nearly as good as say the old sw trilogy, some st episodes or even the stargate movie.

watch every episode of stargate sg1 from series 1 to 9.

Learn the story, witness the awesomeness that is Teal'c.

I dare you not to find it awesome over all other things.

The SG franchis as it is now is pure awesome.

And the movie was such a great progession of the show. It built on what the show did really well. 5+ seasons would have made the show amazing, I think. (About Serenity)

It took me 5 months, 4-5 episodes a day, and countless homework assignments incompleted to watch it all.

I have learned the ways of the Gate.

I didn't like Babylon 5 that much, but whatever order I post those in, we both agree that Trek is last.

And that is all that matters.

But that doesn't answer my question. What exactly about Firefly made you just go "meh, same old"?

I'm asking because it's easily my favourite science-fiction show/movie in a long time. There's only 13 episodes, but I enjoy them more than any other show, and I've watched pretty much every sf show that's come out in recent years...did you see Serenity before watching Firefly (I think the movie would stand fine on its own, but I had seen Firefly before Serenity so I can't say for sure)?

How old are you? That's a question, not an insult. I'm wondering because the original cut of ESB is still pretty good, but the other two movies seem sort of juvenile...like they're aimed at a younger demographic.

B5's decent. The writing and acting has been pretty lame overall, but a Jerry Doyle, Andreas Katsulas and Peter Jurasik (that's Garibaldi, G'Kar and Londo) really seemed to get into it. They sort of carried the two seasons I've seen.
