films in 1912 were not that difficult to make. the special effects in that film were top of the line for those days, but it was basicly a toy boat in a small pond with sone ice cubes. even though the film was 40 minutes long (very long for those days), it still would not take that long to make. (and it was a proper film too, had a storyline and everything)
