Ramen Recipes Time

Since almost all massassians here are of the teenager/poor college student variety, I'm pretty sure almost all massassians have, or will partake in the cooking of Ramen.

As such, I know plenty of people have little things they do to their ramen to spice it up because, to be honest, that **** gets old. Fast.

So...Post yours.

My recipe (which I experimented with after getting it from Goons with Spoons):

Take a wok and boil just enough water to submerge half the Ramen in there (in reality this is for ease of use, not really necessary to have that little in there). Let ramen get soft, flip brick over, stir around until the ramen is thoroughly cooked. Drain.

Add a couple glugs (how much is up to you) of sesame oil, a couple splashes of Soy Sauce, some garlic (powder if you want), some pepper and a smidgeon of salt. Also add 1/4-1/2 the seasoning packet if you choose. Stir around while it fries (so it doesn't get caked into a thing of fried ramen), then take off heat when to your desired level of...fried...ness. I like mine crunchier. Put on plate/in bowl, and enjoy.

I've also heard people put Srirasha on theirs, and have just recently procured some myself (as in, today), so I look forward to trying it. \m/

You could, but it doesn't add much to the variety I make.

What I do with it works best with any kind of stew broth, but I suppose you could use other types of sauces/brothes as well. Requires diced chicken. You can get the chicken from any kind of leftover chicken, I personally used the cooked chicken from the stew the night before.

Throw the noodles into a bowl that has the broth in it. Do not cook broth before hand, it tastes better cold, the colder it is the better. Let it soak there until it gets nice and soft, and soaks up the flavor. Then, heat chicken until it's ot enough that you can really tell that it's hot. Throw chicken into bowl. Add any type of seasoning you like.

The resulting mix of between room temperature (noodles) hot (chicken) and cold (broth) is some kind of lucious orgasm that tastes really great.

Ramen is for lazy people who can't cook. :P

Sometimes I just sprinkle a bit of the seasoning on the brick and chow down.

Is it even possible to buy one package of Ramen?
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Only if you prepare it as is. Otherwise you can come up with some very tasty recipes. Ramen is basically cheap noodles. Not necessarily for those who are too lazy to cook ;)

I used to eat Ramen more often in the dorms but it gets so old so fast. Lime Chili Shrimp ramen is the best tasting, imo. Not completely disgusting like Beef ramen. My friends always drain the water out and put a lot of butter in with their ramen noodles. Yuck...

For a great snack, crush the noodles with your hand while they're still in the package, open the package, pour the seasoning in, and eat with your hand. mmm

I can't stand the taste of ramen, but that's just because I am quite possibly THE PICKIEST EATER on the planet. :o

12 cents at Publix here.

I usually eat it as is, but every once in a while I'll drain it and eat the noodles with soy sauce, chopped egg, and either rice or left over chicken if we ever have one of them.

More or less, lol. I'm not a big fan of it myself. I'll eat it, but it's generally not something I'll buy to keep around.

That's the seasoning. Ramen is an extremely cheap noodle meal with a small, but extremely salty flavor packaging along with some hydrogenated noodles. In Japan it's an average meal which is served often at restaurants. In the US, it's a meal which has kept the kids in college alive (10 cents or less a package en masse).

I start off by opening the bag. Then I realize I should have crushed it up before opening the bag. But it’s to late, so I try to close off the top of the bag and crush it up. But then little noodles pop out of the top of the bag a litter the floor. I then reach into the bag and take the flavor pack and open it and spill in a little. . .and then a lot spills in because I have clumsy control over my shaky hands. Anyway. Then I shake the bag, causing thousands of little noodles to break away and escape to sweet freedom while I eat the cowardly noodles who didn’t have the guts to escape. And for a ceremonious effect I usually sprinkle more noodles on the floor. And then the mighty god of Ramen, Ramennon grants me the pleasure of waking up in a small pile of noodles. Like seen below.

I'd assume the local equivalent, super noodles, here.

Add to bowl. Add water. Add flavourings. Nuke for four minutes. Serve.

Ooh oldschool. I haven't eaten in a fetal position like that since I was in my mom's womb.

I used toeat Ramen (drained broth) but now I try to stay away from it because it's too unhealthy.
2006-06-30, 11:21 AM #34
I've never had Ramen in my life.

Most of the unhealthiness is in the sodium, though the hydrogenated noodles aren't exactly good for you, they're not horrible for you. But yeah, I can easily understand that notion. My wallet can't though :p

It's not a lie, it's just not great after eating it once or twice.

I generally can't bring myself to eat the stuff unless its been a very long time, and I really don't know why.
nope.
