I guess this may be another sign of me maturing and growing up. Maybe it's a sign that games suck for the most part anymore. Perhaps I just need to get gaming on my new computer...but we'll see.

As of recent, I've been doing VERY little gaming. The only thing that's gotten me to game is HL2 in preparation for my new computer, which I'm hoping to game on. But...no game can just drag me in. I'm not going to ask for game suggestions, that's not what I'm here for at all. What I'm here for is what you think is going on/what I should do

The last game I bought personally and really enjoyed was Black. God that game was awesome. Explosions, beautiful graphics, loud guns, the whole deal. I loved it. I still love it. It just...I can't explain how it appeals to me. I've not played a game in a long, long time that I've enjoyed that didn't involve guns, killing, and just all of that fun stuff.

Hell, it's even getting into my movie preference. I saw M:I:3 with some friends when it came out. Sure, I'm in the teenager "BOOM BOOM COOL" area, but I LOVED that movie. The gunplay, the action, just a great movie from my point of view.

But, I haven't bought a game in a while. Why? Because there's nothing appealing to me. Used to be, Mario games got me jazzed and I loved them. Hell, Zelda got me bouncing off the walls. But, while I'll still play the games, I much more prefer Red Steel over Twighlight Princess, although I'll play both eventually.

Am I just getting out of games geared towards younger people? Perhaps. But I have very little access to the guns/gore/explosive games like Black, which most happen to be rated M. The bottom line is that anymore, I'm not excited over the Wii that much. Yes, I am excited, yes, I want one. Do I want it so bad I'd wait in line for it forever? No.

I'll just end this confusion (I had a good thread planned out earlier, now look what's happened to it. ****ty thread, not easy to understand) by saying this:

I would eventually like a Wii. I'm VERY anxious to get my hands on a 360 and Halo, H2, and PD: Zero.

Wow, that was a poorly contructed post.
I had a blog. It sucked.

i wouldnt say kids games specifically, since some of those are awesome.

maybe notice an FPS pattern in those games you enjoyed and want to play...

I've noticed myself not playing games as much as before, but you're 13 or what? When I was 13 I was freaking gaming all along. And you feel 'grown out' from games? Freaking kids these days :(

I have to agree games are getting quite bland nowadays. It's like it's more important for people to have "OMG PRETTIER GRAPHICS WITH TRAILERS CONTAINING POMPOUS MUSIC ^_^" than innovative and neat games. Or maybe it has always been so, though :P

Since you could like that game so much, you could make a promotional poster/ad for it with the line "Black is coming."

It's called summer. I hardly play games in the summer, I've been outside all day every day for the past month. Rarely do I touch my Playstation, or my PC games. In the winter I play quite a bit. Actually a lot.

Just enjoy the summer, stop worrying about playing games. If I were you, though, I'd go pick up an RPG that takes up quite a bit of time, or that's addicting. That'll get you back into it. Or maybe play an old favorite game of yours. Try out Chrono Cross. I've beaten it like 4 times.
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

right now I'm enjoying just screwing around in San Andreas, I think I've only done the first mission, and the rest is exploring and jacking cars, and just general ****ing around with the physics/game

I just can't find a good game to get into. My collection is mainly made up of:

Computer -
FPS games from around 2000 I've played to death and I'm tired of and a few RTS games. There's a few I'm really hyped to play on my new computer though, such as C&C: Generals.

GCN -
Gamecube. It's got my Zelda games, I'm not using it much at all

PS2 -
Eeehhh...Got a few games (Black, SC:Chaos Theory, Mercenaries) that I really play and enjoy. Oh, and I LOVED Area 51. I played through that game once, and it was just about PERFECT.

FGR's kinda right though. I'm not saying I've grown out of gaming, just kinda into a different preference
I had a blog. It sucked.

Try looking into the genre's you don't usually play to death.

Get in some good racing games or Beat-em ups.
nope.

Newer/better graphics != better.

I've been having a blast playing final fantasy: mystic quest through for about the tenth time recently. :P

Well, you're obviously not in the FPS or RTS mood, I might go as far as to suggest an RPG, a genre I typically stay away from. Besides that, maybe look into some classics like TIE FIghter, or something maybe like MechWarrior. Don't worry, eventually it'll turn around and you'll be craving some game time again.

i know you're not looking for game suggestions, but if you want something thats a bit different, with a great story and funny characters, try Beyond Good & Evil. vastly underrated. came out around the same time as one of the GTA games i think, so it kinda got ignored. great game though.

I would recommend minesweeper. Have you tried this? It comes with Windows, but not everybody notices it.

Fast-paced arcade gameplay, seat of your chair tension and gripping narrative about a UN mine-defusing team working in a thrid-world country.

I stopped gaming a few months ago. Actually, about 6 months after halo2 came out. Then off and on I would get into a game for a couple of days, beat it and then go back to writing. Right now I'm playing a lot of Fable Lost chapters. But right now the appeal is dying.

Well, it's not so much I'm tired of FPS games, as I'm tired of crappy ones. I mean, I know there's great games out there with mediocre graphics, and I'm not one to base a game on it's graphics. I've just gotten tired of half-assed games. Sure, Black doesn't have MP, but DAMN is it well done. Beautiful graphics (sue me. I like them), sounds amazing, and just plays smooth.

Actually, I think this may be a result of buying almost nothing for 9 months straight. I wasn't able to buy a game for a long time, and I was stuck with the same games for 9 months. Now, I've got all these games I CAN play on my new computer, and the computer isn't working. But Final Hope IS right. It IS summer, it generally IS nice outside, and I SHOULD be outside most of the day.

Tiberium: I never said gaming was for younger kids. I said most of our COLLECTION is geared towards younger kids. I have no problem with this, most of the games are fun. And my parents kinda watch what I play. When it gets into sexual territory, they usually don't let me play it. Hence, no God of War, no GTA, nothing like that.

I did play The Godfather over at a friend's house. God...that's the most fun I've had in a LONG time. If I had $30, I'd DEFINITELY put it out for that game. That's the first game I've played (not bought) since Black that's held my attention long enough to get me interested. If only it didn't drop the F bomb every 3.76 seconds (I saw no sexual content in there aside from brothels.)
I had a blog. It sucked.

Maybe give Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 a try, or get back into it if you used to play it (you might be a little young to have done so when it first came out). It is a high quality game that was responsible for the creation of this site, and it still has a community that plays it and seeks to push its boundaries.

Out of curiosity... Have you ever considered taking Chaos Theory and playing it like an FPS instead of a stealth game? Load up the Assault kit, completely ignore most of your objectives, and just kill or screw with every NPC in the game. I got tired of trying to get my ratings on every level as high as I could awhile back and started doing that. God it was fun. The SC-20K is sex when you just lay into someone with it, and when you're given the shotgun attachment... oh... sweet sweet shotgun.... blowing people away with it is such a joy...

But yeah, if you haven't tried doing that before, I'd suggest it. And if you HAVE done that, but never tried to get your ratings as high as you can, I suggest doing that. I've found much enjoyment recently in trying to get 100% ratings (no kills, no sightings, no alarms, all objectives complete, all opportunity objectives complete).

And now that I think about it, that entire concept and idea can probably be applied to most of the games you have. Just look for ways to play it completely differently, do things the game isn't expecting you to do (games that play cutscenes real time are a good example, try to get something in/happen in the cutscene the game usually doesn't intend).

You probably already do all of that. But if not, I find it kills time for me.

Very atmospheric, but insanely difficult.

So, as Glyde Bayne mentioned, DEUS SEX. Or if you played it, Fallout 1 & 2. Although the latter are M rated (not sure about DEUS SEX), I'm sure you're mature enough to appreciate their eternal awesomeness.

Hmm...

OH. WAIT. I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Raises hand, Brian calls on him to talk*

BECAUSE THE GAME SUCKS UNLESS IT'S MULTIPLAYER. I stated what I wanted more or less, what I enjoyed, and FP has none of that. Yes, I enjoyed FP's co-op, and it's MP, and it's mapmaker, but it's not as good as you make it sound.

And Koobie, all 3 are rated M. But I could get Deus (S)ex if I wanted, it's just language and blood. It's only sexual stuff that "bothers" my parents.

Because you're the only one that thinks it's the best MP FPS ever?

I'm partial to two person San Andreas, Versus or Co-Op in Chaos Theory, and the Halos.

There isn't really alot of sexual things in the Fallout games, if any. Just alot of violence and language. But it really depends on how you want to play it. You *do* have the option to become a porn star or a drug dealer, or even a slaver in Fallout 2, but it doesn't mean you have to.

And as for language, the dialogues are rather realistic, actually. Very believable. You'd expect those people to speak like that.

The games are like good novels, only you're in control. Which is what every game's set out to be, in theory. Only in this case, it actually works.

I've always found that platformers/adventure games engage me for quite some time. One of my favorites is Prince of Persia:Sands of Time. I have a friend that goes crazy over Devil May Cry. But hack and slash platformers are for the most part pure, unalduterated fun.
