For those of you that are either A. Old enough, or B. Fortunate enough to afford a set of steel on wheels. Good, bad, old or new. Post 'em up!

My last car, 1984 Camaro, may it rest in peace wherever it is, was traded in as a down payment for my new baby. A 2006 Civic Si. Let me tell you people who have older cars and never had a new one something. VALUE the old one, you can do more stuff with a crappy car because you don't have to care about messing it up. New cars are like small children, they require too much care. Unless you just have money flowing out random holes in your body...in which case.... well never mind. POST EM!

A nice little Audi A6.
I got it from my brother (who got it from our father) when he moved to Africa. This car is just too good to sell. I like it more than my father's new Volvo.

Before that I had a black Opel Corsa A. I'm selling it to a friend, but on saturday we discovered that it's leaking fuel.

I wrecked my car about a month ago. This thread makes me sad.

this is what it looked like (except I had alloy wheels and a sunroof).

JediGandalf, I hate when dealers put their own non-removable stickers on the car. If they do that, I make them remove it or I don't buy the car. I don't want to be a freaking advertisement for their crappy used car dealership  They should pay you to drive a car with their dealer info on it!

Haha, the dealer tag on the back of my car is for a dealer that doesn't exist anymore since they changed their name not too long after this car was purchased. Although everyone still knows who they are since they're like the biggest Ford dealership in the state.

I know. It bugs me too. I'm hoping that I can remove it w/o ****ing up the paint job. But damnit I do NOT want to be free advertising.

LORD that is sexy. My friend has an 00 Civic Si.. it got me hooked. Is that an Si or an EX? I can't tell. Those little cars can move, so many engine options... ahh someday.

Oh yeah, and I duno if you keep up with all the civic stuff or not, but the TEIN 06 SI got stolen... talk about major grand theft auto.

Just an EX (but with all the SI looks) great on gas mileage, and slow as hell.. but that's OK because I got way too many speeding tickets in my GSR.. Besides the weekend warrior is in the garage still being put together.

Any plans for your civic?

2006-07-18, 11:49 AM #26
LOTS of plans, not so much money. My goals:

TEIN Adjustable coilovers
Typhoon K&N short ram intake
Greddy Evo2 Catback
(Still deciding on whether to build the motor up, or super charge it. I'm not big on turbo, thats what VTEC is for.)
Powdercoat the stock wheels gunmetal unless i find better wheels.
Id like to get a body kit that looks decent, but i am VERY picky about kits, the only one that looks nice is the HFP one you can buy with the car, but those are too common. I don't go for the idiotic fast and the furious look.
I'm contemplating putting HIDs in my headlights later when I take them apart.

Lets see what else. Maybe a hondata reflash... not very educated in that area yet.

Essentially, I want to get it over 250whp, but keep it functional and practical as a daily driver.

whos? mine? Why poor civic? I'm not ricing it out, im not putting a loud ugly tip on it, i dont go for that either. I don't see whats wrong with putting aftermarket parts on a car.

Don't supercharge it, that's a waste of money. The only way to pump horse power out of a small 4 cyl is a turbo. And you'll need that to make 250whp.. but vtec and turbo are a little different ;)
"Nulla tenaci invia est via"
2006-07-18, 1:07 PM #30
yeah, vtec is variable valve timing, and a turbo forces more air into the engine. more air = more oxygen = more boom = more power.

Lies! It's a sticker you put on the car to make it go faster!

Turbo is a high end boost though, supercharge is a low end boost. I want the car to get up and go right when I hit the gas, and then VTEC can pickup the slack later on. I may just build the engine for power, then supercharge it. Besides, the compression ratio on my engine is 11.0:1, and many people speculate that turbo will have narrow limits on that.

Not a bad car, we had one of those, if its the V6 (dont know if all of them are or not) they have some good pickup.

Its a 4-cylinder. I went for the gas mileage. But it does have surprising power for being a 4-banger.

well, supercharger and turbocharger do the same exact thing. compress air and push it into the cyl.. turbo uses exhaust gases.. supercharger uses your belts.. a supercharger has a constant boost pressure.. turbo doesn't. It builds boost at higher RPMs but it all depends on the size of your turbo on when it's going to start spooling.

but a supercharger is not going to give you as good of power increase as a turbo will.. and a high compression motor is not ideal for boost. You also will need to think about fuel injectors, fuel management, ignition, and compression...not to mention time on the Dyno tuning the engine. I had a fried who supercharged his typeR.. about a month later he took it off and sold it. If I were you I'd keep it an all-motor engine.
