If you can find an un-biased media source... You may have this shirt off my back and this magical thimble that keeps that shirt snuggle fresh.

Obviously I'm not suggesting that tomorrow's battle plan should be broadcast over public television.

I hate how they raise the stupid level, then president Bush directs us to "Live your lives normally", it's just like, okay, why did you waste my time raising the alert?

Also, if something does happen, at leats GW won't come under fire again for not knowing/doing anything about it the first time.
I'm sure he'd rather hear people complain about being on alert all the time than hear them complain that his office did nothing when something does happen.

^ bah, let's just leave it on orange/ yellow all the time (acually, we have been leaving it at those colors).

But look on the bright side, the color system is great way for Bush to "see" how much the country is in danger.

Seriously, I don't know a single person who cares what color/level it's at, they change it every 5 minutes just to try and scare Americans into thinking the big bad wolf is lerking just around the corner.</font>

Well, when the Big Bad Wolf really IS around the corner, no American's gonna come to their rescue. They should learn from their childhood stories!

None of you understand, the color level is decided by Kevin the Security Rooster. Government officials sprinkle feed over a keyboard, leaving Kevin to peck at it. When he successfully spells out a color, bam, there you go.
You have no idea of how long it took me to do this.

You make a good point. Our tax money is going into this war, and we should know what is really going on.

This is the primary reason why the government screens all media reports on Iraq- the Geraldo Rivera incident is a good example of this.

Well known anchors such as John Roberts from CNN were told, straight up, that they were only to report US casualties if it was OK'ed by the government to do so.</font>

This is mainly because they have procedures to follow and they don't want the media fudging it up- they want to insure the families get notified first, before any media coverage or disclosure of names.

A far as the security levels go, I think the reason they publicly broadcast it and make a big deal is to discourage attacks. Kind of like saying "we're watching you" to the terrorists- just a mind game.
