don't be to proud of this technological terror you've constructed. the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the Power of the Force.

I don't think that's quite what the problem is. And no, won't be seeing this movie, simply because I get enough political bull**** shoved down my throat without going looking for it.

No Hunter that is exactly it. Immaturity. They think its so funny and cool to ruin a persons thread. They are all "bullies" that's all.

SAJN, wake the **** up. The type of thread you're requesting is simply not possible. You can't expect to post a thread about a controversial subject and expect everyone to be nice and civil. It's like making a "President Bush (NON-Debate)" thread. And the "bullies", as you call them, are simply playing on that fact. I sincerely doubt anyone on these boards hates you, but you should really think before you try a thread like this again.

Uh yeah it is possible, why dont you wake up. Look at the first post those are all people that answered how I asked. Everyone else could of done so but they CHOOSE LIKE JERKS NOT TO! You are a moron sir if you think people are not capable of not debating. The mature ones didnt debate the immature ones did.

You make it sound like a thread is some finely crafted piece of artwork that must be cuddled and cared for by a loving author.

It really isn't.

A thread is a runaway train accelerating down tracks that have yet to laid. The author is the train driver that leaped off as soon as the train started.

A thread is an orgy of ideas and thoughts. The author is...well..never mind.

The point is that the author only sparks the start of the discussion, and points and ideas can follow on from that. I much prefer threads that start with 'Discuss' to those that start with 'NO DEBATES' (though some sort of opening opinion is usually helpful).
From the opening point, someone else can bring in a new point to agree or disagree or perhaps just a different idea related to the thing the author talked about. Then someone else does the same to that person.
Yes, after a few pages people might be talking about something completely different to what the author was, but such is the miracle of discussion!

For the love of God...

Is it so freaking hard to talk about a movie without debating it, too?
1.) Post your opinion of the movie.
2.) Don't rebuttle the opinions of others.

I know, I know. That's a lot to keep in mind. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]

Congratulations mate [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] and your prize for this acheivement is a short vacation, see you in a few weeks.

SAJN's overreaction hasn't helped, but some of you guys are like schoolground bullies picking on someone simply to get a reaction. The fact that this is the third thread in a row some of you have hijacked despite admin warnings is a sign some of you just aren't getting the message.

Well I didn't mean to overreact, but I just did. It doesn't happen often, but after me trying to get three no debate threads, I'm sure you'd get PO'd as well. Then there comes the debate, the bashing, the aiming at me. Hobbit, Cazor, Ubuu, MeLoN, all at once bashing and flaming and AGH.

------------------
I made a thread, that turned into the debate, so I made a second thread, that turned into a debate, then I made a third thread, that caught on fire, burned down, got flamed, crapped on, bashed, then turned into a debate...but the fourth one, the fourth one stayed on topic!

Im sorry but this happens more then often. In fact I can remember the last time something similar happened where you complained that everyone was out to get you and turned Massassi into a big soap opera for a couple days. Stop being such a drama queen then maybe you will get some respect.

I understand, especially with no response through official channels. Just keep in mind in future though that profanity laden explosions, no matter how provoked, tend to restrict an admins ability to punish the people responsible without also punishing you.

Oh-ho! It gotten to the part of the thread where the late people start saying how immature the both sides were with out reading the posts.
I, not being one to transgress sacred forum tradition, will now condemm both sides for being immature and chilish, while basking in my own 1337 maturity. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] Anyway, it would seem that after the other two threads ended in flame wars, not with standing that some had a much better point than others, this thread should not have been resurected. Won't people ever learn? Now... what did I do with those wieners? Oops! burned one!

this is really getting old, guys. I'm not trying to be a mod/admin here (the time will come, muhahaha) but I believe that i speak for the trest of us when I say that its time we knocked this off and moved on.

The University of North Carolina has finally found a network server that, although missing for four years, hasn't missed a packet in all that time. Try as they might, university administrators couldn't find the server. Working with Novell Inc., IT workers tracked it down by meticulously following cable until they literally ran into a wall. The server had been mistakenly sealed behind drywall by maintenance workers.

I'm still amazed that the admins didn't delete the 3rd thread as soon as they saw it. Ahh, well, it will be locked soon enough.
2004-06-27, 5:57 PM #71
Quite honestly, if you'd all act your age and show a bit of maturity in the matter, it wouldn't have to be locked at all.

Am I the only one here that acts the same online as he does in real life?

Almost all threads go off topic. Why is it the end of the world when a "Fahrenheit 9/11 (NON-Debate thread)" goes that direction? Tangent discussions often take place. Why can't someone just ignore them?

In this case the thread is about a film that preaches to the choir and is hailed as a documentary when the Moore is known to make films suit his pre-conceived notions. The topic is bound to spark a debate. Given that, as long as things remain civil, why is it an issue with regards to this topic or the past three threads starter?

And how many Fahrenheit 9/11 threads do we need anyway? It's a good thing Moore doesn't get paid a royalty everytime the titles used!
