So the title to Batman Begins has been confirmed to be The Dark Knight, and the one slated to play the joker in this installement is none other then Heath Ledger.

My source is french, so the rest of you suck it up and find your own source. :P

IMDB seems to have him on the cast list too...

...I'm worried, but if he ACTUALLY manages to perform that role well.. wow.

Nicholson was great. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

This was also on CNN.

I just can't imagine Heath Ledger pulling it off. He's always been so stiff in his movies and his voice is NOT a Joker-esque voice. It's more like... Gruffy the Gay Cowboy voice.

Um... he doesn't have a gruffy cowboy voice, he's Australian.

So he just has a gay voice lol snap

blasphemy! no one could do the joker like jack nicholson. why cant hollywood come up with anything orginal anymore? iiieeeeeeeeee. and the new director sucks. batman begins was ok, but it was no way near dark enough like tim burton made it like in the orginals.
Take that there and put it in here

I thought Begins was better and personally it felt more serious.
2006-08-03, 5:20 PM #16
Begins was the origin of Batman. It wasn't supposed to be dark, aside from Gotham itself. The next movie will have the time to dedicate to the Bruce Wayne/Batman stuff.

Someone already did some photoshopping to see what it would look like

If its anything like that it will be stupid.

Yeah, it's true. He is the Joker, as stated from BBC news as well.. sigh. haha I just hope it turns out well.
Mmmm.

Jack Nicholson != Mark Hamill
I love both their performances as the Joker. They are both great, because each has a different style. So you can't really compare them.
I hope Ledger can come up with something unique, too.
Sorry for the lousy German

What the heck is that, Vinny?

-It looks hideous and terrifying. If the hair was green, that'd be Mr. J.
2006-08-06, 8:46 PM #23
Jack was the best Joker hands down. if it aint Jack it shouldnt be anyone. I dont like the thought of Heath in the role...he's too mellow to play the Joker
2006-08-06, 8:53 PM #24
Jack was the perfect Tim Burton rendition of the Joker. However, Tim Burton made a gothic Gotham City counteracted by comic characters and dialogue. Christopher Nolan is not Tim Burton - he's gone for a gothic Gotham City with serious characters and dialogue. I have to say, I like the style of makeup done for Ledger (assuming that's what Vinny posted) and he's got the grin spot-on, in my opinion.

Seriously, people. Stop pining for copies of Tim Burton's films, because that's not what you're going to get.

Wait...didn't we have the Joker all ready?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I had originally heard it was going to be Robin Williams, and I know he'd make a perfect joker. Man I am sad :(

Oh, yeah. I thought you meant an actor for this new movie. The Begins series has no connection any of the other movies.

That's Heath Ledger as the Joker. I thought that would be obvious in this thread.

as much as I like Tim Burton "Vincent" is my favoret shot film of all time.

His Bataman movies are crap. all the serious Batman fans I have talked to (i.e. those of us who read comics still) hate Jack as the Joker. and everyone I know thinks Hammil is the best by far.

Daft question - when did Mark Hamill play the joker?
2006-08-07, 12:12 PM #35
Hamill voiced the Joker on Batman: the Animated Series

Yeah, in 1966! Oh no! Tim Burton is ripping off the other movies!

It's a new series, people. And this Joker looks friggin' scary. I like it.
2006-08-07, 1:00 PM #37
I always viewed Joker as a loony man with some class, not flat-out scary.

Funky as that is, I don't think it can really be compared to live acting the Joker (a massively physical part).

I reckon Heath will do a fine job personally. :)

In my opinion the actors who play these types of roles (ie superman) are too young these days. Pretty soon we are going to have 10 year old girls playing roles like wonderwoman.
Take that there and put it in here

Christian Bale and Heath Ledger are in their 30s.
