I'm getting it now. It better be worth it.

edit: especially because it's 2 freaking gigs.

Blah I looked at the required system specs and I can prolly run it if I turn a bunch of settings down. (The main problem being my video card .. I haven't played games in a while and this computer is a workstation)

I'll play, this is tons of fun. But I'd need to join a non-standard port... most of the outgoing ports are blocked (although I might be able to get one opened tonight).

27015 would be a good port for me. >.>

Anyways I've played this a couple times, I caught on pretty quickly. :)

Plus this seems like a chance to actually use the Game Room.

If there's a Linux dedicated server, I can host one. The connection would be through Case Western Reserve University, which is on the Internet 2 backbone. Bandwidth is not a problem.

Ok, I finally managed to get it running on an acceptable framerate by turning nearly everything down to minimum.

But now for some reason I can't get a server list.
arrgh

Is there a console or something where I can turn on show fps and mess around with settings? (along the lines of a Q3 console)

There definitely is linux server support, I saw it in the filter options in the server list

I finally got it to play right, played a couple rounds of slomo ctf

Maybe my system's just getting old but I found it pretty clunky. Weapons weren't that fun and my melee attacks never did seem to hit (melee is pretty overpowered anyway).

It's pretty slow compared to UT.

I haven['t played the mulplayer (at all, ever) so I can't comment on that. But the games single player is freaking awesome.

That's the idea. It's a little more realistic. I agree the melee attacks need work. They do hit, but they do too much damage.
