Most people around here call it pop, but it's not like calling it soda will get you weird looks. Calling anything with bubbles "Coke" is just stupid in my opinion. Crazy southerners.

i used to say pop. then i dated a hoosier for 5 years, and she converted me to soda.

although lately its been "Tasty soda" or "tasty beverage" the latter also apllying to alcoholic drinks.

I only refer to Coca-Cola and Pepsi as Coke. Everything else is Soda.

SODA I keep telling my friend. Whenever she asks for a pop I tell her that we don't have any, but if she wants a soda, that's fine

You've got it all wrong.

Soda is carbonated water. Pop is flavored carbonated water, IE coke, etc.

Soda or pop. I think I use them interchangably but I don't notice that much. Soda when I'm in NY since that's what most people use, and pop at home.

Whatever your preference, I think we can all agree that people who call everything "Coke" are just idiots.

That doesn't make sense. Coke refers to the name brand Coca-Cola, which is a specific product. Soda and pop are not specific products. Therefore, calling all types of carbonated soft drinks "coke" is stupid.

coke is coke. pepsi is pepsi. sprite is sprite. generics are soda. pop is not a liquid, it's a word for describing a sound or explosion or the like.

Coke is a white powder, usually insufflated to obtain a euphoric high. Soda is carbonated water. Pop is the delicious candy of awesome that the gods have bestowed upon us. The gods of awesome.

Coke is also an abbreviated version of Coca-Cola. Soda is what our Trans-Atlantic Chums traditionally call pop (or so my tellybox has led me to believe).

I usually call things by their names though. Like LILT.
