I've heard where some say that if he had left it in, he may have survived. Obviously, it's a natural reaction when a foreign object enters your body to immidiately try to purge it. Medical experts, however, have been saying for a while now that if you're ever stabbed, it's ussually best to leave it in place while you seek out immidiate medical attention. In particular to this case, if you look at the barb, you can see how it is designed to inflict even more physical damage as it is pulled out.

FABIAN COUSTEAU, the grandson of legendary oceanographer JACQUES COUSTEAU, was on STEVE IRWIN's boat when the CROCODILE HUNTER was killed by a stingray off the coast of Australia yesterday (04SEP06). Cousteau attempted in vain to revive the beloved Aussie animal expert.

Maybe Fabian Cousteau wanted put Irwin out in order to restore fame back into the Cousteau family again...

It's a sad day when the world looses a great person like Steve Irwin.
I always really liked his shows.
He was also a well spoken conservationalist.

I've been watching the animal planet after school for a year or so now.
Today they played a "Steve Irwin: Confessions", where Steve talked about stuff.

Actually they have made an official statement that the video will be destroyed after the police is done with it. It is the family's wish.

What? Aww. I'd totally want to see it.

I remember seeing Steve hold up a tarantula the size of my face and go "Look at this! Look at this beauty! It has a poison that can kill you in 20 minutes and the nearest antidote is 2 hours away!". Ever since that, I've just been waiting for him to die - he's made a career out of courting death. Finally! It's like an orgasm after a really really long session of sex, that best sums up my relationship with Steve Irwin. You only watch him for the remote chance that he might get killed. Like NASCAR racing, you only watch it for the crash.

And the video wouldn't be disrespectful or anything, it's not like a diplomat dying on the toilet or something - I remember Steve getting bit by a snake and going "Woah, look at the marks on my arm! What a beauty!".

I only wish Steve was on my ghoul pool ;-(

I always though the poison from a tarantula isn't strong enough to kill a healthy person.

Yeah thats why I couldn't help but chuckle when they said it was "a freak accident". A freak accident would be something unsual and unexpected. In Steve's case the only thing unusual about it is he lasted this long.
