Um, I live in WA and it's not that great. The outdoors are nice and the weather is awesome (I like rain and I like green trees), but there are severe drawbacks.

Highest minimum wage in the country (or very close to it), really high taxes, over-eager cops, microsoft, crooked legal system, really high taxes, insane property restriction laws, lots of water pollution, really high taxes, crappy roads within a 100 mile radius of Seattle, over-eager cops, the state's been run by democrats for the past hundred years and they still can't get it right.

Oregon is bigger and better. No sales tax either.

Yeah, it's not like Oregon has high property taxes to make for their lack of sales tax or anything...

That's why you live in a bordering state and do your shopping in Oregon. But make sure you live close to the border or else it's not worth it.

Or just dont buy a house in Oregon... rent instead. I live in an apartment so I've not felt the wrath of Oregon property taxes. And I still dont have to pay any sales tax. But they do make you pay deposit on anything that comes in a can/bottle, and if you want your 5 cents back you gotta go back to the store, weave your way through a bunch of hobos asking you "do you need those cans?" and put the containers into a machine to get your money back.

Yeah taxes suck. WA will try to tax you for just about any reason. A friend recently commented to me that we're lucky we don't have a "Steve Irwin just died" tax.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
