The War Of The Measurements!
2006-10-01, 6:03 PM #41
i'm an american and i use metric. at least for one purpose anyway. if i could find a metric tape measure i'd love it.

but yeah, use imperial most of the time, but i think that metric makes so much more sense.

like i cut my own mats for my artwork, and trying to do it in inches, i'd end up committing suicide from fractional numbers. but using metric, it never takes more than 10 minutes cause everything divides nicely.

Imperial is good for some things, metric is good for others. For communicating general heights, weights, distances, and such I prefer to use Imperial, partly because I'm used to it and partly because the foot is much nicer than the centimeter/meter for everyday things.

For science, math, and other times I need to be exact, metric is the obvious choice.

Metric, for the obvious reasons that it's more logical and easier to use.

I seem to remembner posting in a thread just like this not too long ago. Sure, metric makes more sense and works out nicer, but everything around here works so nicely in miles and feet as it is. I can tell how far away ANYTHING is because roads are done generally on a square-mile grid. So...imperial all the way!

I don't use silly measurements....I just say "Oh about this tall" or "Oh its cold/hot/nice out"

Metric. Imperial makes no sense.

The metric system is better; however, it would be nearly impossible to convert now. Think of the millions (billions?) of road signs. Even if they just slapped stickers on them the cost would be way too high.
