The parents should have been alerted and allowed to be present for the questioning.

But, yes, questioning a 14-year-old girl is silly. The image had been removed, so there really wasn't any real problem in my mind.

It'd be neat to get a visit from Secret Service agents. I'd be worried if people starting getting thrown in jail for such offenses, though.

KILL BUSH! Just kidding, guys. I do not endorse this message.

Har. 14 year old angst.

I don't see why it would be surprising that agents would be concerned with "Kill Bush" promotion.

Saying that you're going to kill someone is illegal.

I infer from the article's title the girl was arrested, but the article mentions nothing of arrest. WTF?

I imagine she was probably arrested and then released.

And anyway...

Nice job Secret Service. It's pretty impressive that they even found out about the picture. Now maybe this girl will be scared away from her emo ways.. And that means one less emo. :)

(she is very obviously emo, or has emo-like tendencies, due to this quote: "I wasn't dangerous. I mean, look at what's (stenciled) on my backpack - it's a heart. I'm a very peace-loving person.")
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Appears there was no arresting, just questioning. Saying she was "arrested" makes this story much more dramatic.

Seeing as school shootings have been prevented because of such monitoring, it's not such a bad thing.

You can't kill someone by stabbing their hand, usually.

i hate 14 year olds who think they know anything about politics... when i was 14 my life composed of goldeneye and jk, not trying to be savvy and other stupid bull**** that kids these days do. f*** emo's and little kids

Three years ago, a student who was in one of my classed missed a midterm because the Federal Bureau of Investigation had come to his house and held him up. No one believe him, until he produced a letter collaborating his story.

Apparently, he had been sending emails containg scenarios about assassinations, terror threats, and various other activities that are generally frowned upon. He and his friend would invent scenarios about various ways to assassinate certain government leaders. It would be like discussing new levels for a Hitman game, except the targets are real leaders and politicians. The FBI didn't like it very much, so they sent "Mulder and Scully" to deal with it.

Man you said it. It especially pisses me off when they state their little emo anti-war opinions when they shouldn't even be talking cause they haven't been over there. I know I'd probably be pissed if I was a soldier there like you and someone said "This war is a waste of time"

But anyways, how are things going over there? (I'm assuming you're still there, I could have missed the last update).

Do you not realize what the job of the Secret Service is?
woot!

Jeesh, you don't have to study politics for years and years to be able to form opinions of your own...
DO NOT WANT.
2006-10-17, 3:14 PM #36
There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, the problem lies in ignorant people choosing to go about proclaiming their uninformed opinions.

The problem lies in people performing illegal acts. Do you not realize that making death threats (however veiled) to the President is illegal?
woot!
2006-10-17, 3:19 PM #38
You also dont need to study for years to understand proclaiming your wish to kill someone isnt legal.

im back home now (arrived sept 13), living it up drinking and what not. I get alot of people asking me if we should be over and i try to give them educated views on what its like to be over there and feel frustration from media/politicians/whiney *****ey liberals... now not all liberals are bad. but 14 year olds who say they want our president dead... come on. thats not an opinion, thats ignorance and her parents should have taught her better regaurdless of how long the picture was there. this war isn't for nothing and if i may leave with a quote...

"This is not simply a fight against terror - terror is a tactic. This is not simply a fight against Al Qaeda, its affiliates and adherents - they are foot soldiers. This is not simply a fight to bring democracy to the Middle East - that is a strategic objective. This is a fight for the very ideas at the foundation of our society, the way of life those ideas enable, and the freedoms we enjoy."

I was not referring to the girl mentioned in the article, I am referring the remark made about children going about blathering their uninformed opinions and the following arguments.
