GBK

get it through your thick sakull that not all windows users who wont go to linux are computer illiterate. I use windows because I just find it easyier than learning how to program so I dont defeate the point of an open source OS. Also, I do not realy want to mess around with my computers as if I stuff them up, my parents will not be very happy. I would also lose alot of data as the computers would need to be reformated.

Also, the reson why you cant get tech support your custom, overclocked computer is that microsoft does not have an exacly identicle system to see what your problem might be. Also, I think that noone should be allowed to use tech support if they build their computer from scratch. If they have the skills to build it, they should have the skills to fix problems. If they dont have those skills, then they shouldn't have built a computer from scratch.

Do you know how hard it is to give tech support in a company with millions of customers each with slightly different computers. It is vergeing on inmpossible.

So stop trying to force people to linux. If they wanted to go to linux, they already would have.

Alpha, really, do yourself a favor and just edit those two posts. One--the first one is gibberish, and makes you sound computer illiterate regardless of whether you are or not (I'm going with the former on this one). And also, most of the computer users ARE illiterate with their machine. They don't know much past IE and AIM, maybe Xanga or LJ. I could bash you about this, but I'm a semi-nice guy. Sorta.

Two--that's VERY against the rules as it's openly bashing GBK.

Three--that's not hacking. If you think that's hacking you're either very stupid or on some sort of mind-altering drug. That's redirecting an attack to M$, which I'll guarantee you has probably patched it. If they haven't, bollocks for them, but they pay people to patch stuff like this.

Dogs--Nah I didn't bash GBK, I defended him.

Really, this is annoying. Ever since I got a virus from some idiot a month ago, I've been absolutely livid toward people who want make viruses and send them to people for the sole purpose of annoying the hell out of them. You are stupid to do this. Stop.

...And stop, stop trying to make people use linux. It's sad and annoying!! Like alpha1 said, if we wanted to use linux, we would be already! Personally, I want to keep my friends and not go towards the stereotype of a complete nerd.

Really, I hate this.

[EDIT: I just read the post above mine. I know it's against the rules to bash him for this, but you should know that he can't do this. And I'm just plain mad, and when I'm like this, I go a bit far and attack whoever I'm currently attacking for other things they did in the past that annoy me.]

since when do you need to know everything about computers to be computer literate.

By your logic,

If I gave you stephen hawkings book (the big complex one, not the new simpler one) and told you too read it in one week. I could call you illiterate if you failed.

Now you might say that is unfair, but it is exacly the same as calling someone who is not an expert programmer computer illiterate. Just becuase somone doen't do complex things with their computer doesn't make them stupid. Also, most people don't do things like modifying their computer because they see no need to.

They are the same sort of people who see no need to buy a new car every year so they always have the best. they keep with what they have as they are experienced with it.

*sigh* Once again, people start a flame war because GBK is doing something they'd never be able to do. Get over it, GBK is clever and smart, and you only resent the fact that he knows how to protect his system without using any blah-ish anti virus software. Like DJ-Yoshi said, M$ probably has it patched, and would do them no harm. It's like a punching bag... or not. Ok how about trying to put a drop of grease into a tub of water. Hi.

Wow. This thread got completely out of hand.

1) Its perfectly legal. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

2) The code does not foreward the /attack/ to microsoft.com, it merely forewards microst.com to the attacker... IE, instead of getting a 404 from my server, they will get the index page from microsoft.com. Its quite silly, actually.

3) Geeze, alpha1, Im not trying to convert anyone here. I just posted a bit of humurous code for the few here that might find it funny. Unfortunatly, I neglected to consider that everyone here lacks a sense of humor.

4) That code has nothing to do with hacking. If you think it does, I pity you.

5) Zul, that would be kinda pointless, as it would make the server dish out the same 404 it normally would. The code would, in essence, do nothing.

6) This code does not produce or foreward viruses or worms of any kind. It merely gives the script kiddie alot more than he bargained for.

7) Again, I am not trying to shove Linux down anyones throat. This was a thread about Apache, not Linux. Apache runs on just about every platform under the sun, including Windows. I didnt mention the word "Linux", nor did I make any sort of suggestion of its use.

Yah, that's a bad analogy. Knowing how to use a computer doesn't mean you're literate. Hell a monkey can use a computer, that doesn't mean it's computer literate. There's a certain, well-kept definition, an /urban/ definition if you will of computer literacy. That's someone who knows how to manipulate an OS, intuitively solve problems, knows at least the BASICS of hardware and whatnot. Trust me, most of the computer world is computer illiterate.

And what GBK did isn't illegal, I just found out, in any which way. I'll let him tell you why.
