I have been in similar situations and it never gets any easier to deal with. It is difficult being anything less than number one in the eyes of someone who was number one to you. I would say that a weekend camping trip with single male friends is in order.

don't be overly nice.

because:
a) she doesn't deserve it.
b) you'd be a pushover, and she'd think she could do this whenever she wants.
c) use this against her in the future.
