Movies that most impacted you
2006-12-08, 4:14 PM #1
What movies hit you the hardest after watching them? That doesn't mean they're necessarily the best movies, but the ones that just left you stunned with happiness, sadness, guilt, inspiration, etc. I've been watching a ton of movies due to my film classes, and I've seen some great, powerful movies.

1. Schindler's List
2. The Shawshank Redemption
3. American Beauty
4. Requiem for a Dream
5. American History X

You?

I have never been packed firmly together or struck forcibly by a movie.

Hotel Rwanda.
Saints and Soldiers.
Equilibrium.
A Scanner Darkly.
Serenity.
Memento.
Life is Beautiful.

. . .There are a lot actually. But whatever, those are top of the list ones.

Hotel Rwanda's the only movie that has ever made me shed a tear. Schindler's List will probably move me as well, as soon as I get around to seeing it.

Not really a movie but Band of Brothers had its mark.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I remember watching The Matrix for the first time and my eyes were opened to the fact that were could be living in a program. I also remember watching Terminator 2 as little boy, and scene of Armageddon scared me to the roof. However I don't usually find that many movies have much effect on me.

Good point about The Matrix, considering I was like 13 when it came out it had a pretty large impact on me.

Shawshank Redemption was a good movie, but how did it impact you guys? I just went "Wow, good movie." and went about my life. It didn't impact me that much.
I had a blog. It sucked.

It's definitely one of my favorites, and it revolves around one of the most important emotions (IMO) for any human... hope. Nothing else is possible without hope, not even love. (Spoilers) I also liked how Andy saves Red at the end, as Red was on the same path as Brooks, but Andy's hope brought him hope as well.
