Time for some forum consolidation?

I've noticed a significant drop in posts on the Discussion Forum over the past few weeks. Is it because of the holidays or less people posting? If it's less people posting, we should merge the music discussion and the technology forum back into here (well, we don't have to merge the posts, just close the forums and make sure everyone knows they can post those topics in the discussion forum). Thoughts?

I definitely think we should merge the music forum. I'm often reluctant to even start a music thread, because I know nobody will check the music forum anyway.

Merge in tech, but the music forum has a lot of important stickies that don't need to be cluttering up discussion.

I agree with vinny COMPLETELY. Most people post their tech questions in the main forum anyway. The music forum's helpful sticked posts should remain.

Merge as in everything is now in the DF or we have subforums like the game forum?

I would recommend just closing one of the old forums and asking people to post the main stuff in the discussion forum. I definitely don't like subforums.

I'd agree that merging the tech forum back in would be fine, there aren't that many posts anyways.

Might be that everyone's sick and tired of the fighting and bickering constantly going on here at massassi. (I don't exclude myself from that.) I know I am.

I would support moving the tech forum into the main forum, so that the people with tech questions get their questions answered. I know I have to take advantage of massassi's pool of tech knowledge from time to time, so that would be good. Although, I, too, think the music forums should be separate.

Actually, how about this: Get rid of the game forum and put tech forum on top of Discussion forum. Barely anyone uses game forum on the top of the screen, just sitting there taking up space.

You can axe the editing forums altogether; we get maybe one post per month. The discussion forum could handle those posts too.

Less people posting. I doubt the holidays would have an effect. Most people are slowly maturing so you don't get the over bundance of posts like in the old days and with JK weathering away and LA's recent poor track record with suppliment Jedi games not a lot of young'ens are coming by.

JG and I were going to start working on updating the site at the end of this week

(aka when im done with school)

Game forum will stay where it is for now, until it gets added functionality.

I disagree about merging tech. I'd be put off from posting a php or other programming question in the discussion forum.

Can you save the Massassi NWN Thread somehow? We use that for our campaign.

I sort of disagree with removing the tech forum where it was. We did a good job of cleaning things up and it was actually getting decent use and good posts.
