Yeah, I've notice it too. I mean, I can see why people occasionally give him a hard time but the idea of telling him not to post in a thread is just stupid. Ahh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Next!

Because most massassians have no tolerance. When someone says a post disrupts the flow of conversation, its mostly a load of bull****.
Minimal intelligence is required to identify the appropriate posts, Jep. Surely you have that much.
I guess I lack intelligence then. Or maybe you're just refusing to hear my point.

QUOTE=IRG SithLord]And see JG's post. You have no argument. The simple answer here is that most people on these forums lack courtesy to ignore the posts without the ignore feature. Judging from your posts, I'd say that includes you.
JG ended it by saying "stuff it on your ignore list". I still disagree with that completely. One thing I will agree with is that if rules were enforced more, several of us would indeed be banned or on probation including myself. Some of us may also behave better too.

I'm surprised that didn't turn into a reference to "Brick House."

Ok, I was unaware that the Ignore feature still allows people to view posts from the ignored. I have not used the feature.

I disagree with the ignore function on the principle that if I have to read all your crap so should everyone else.

The ignore function is a bad idea. You've got a perfectly capable ignore function stored in your brain. TE posts can be read, then discarded, instead of read and then responded to over and over until the thread isn't even about the original post anymore.

And I'm someone who's ok with threads evolving. I don't think it's ok for a thread to DEVOLVE into "OMG, TE IS TEH STUPID! LOL." Were he breaking rules, being dishonest, or whatever, I'd understand. SFGold deserves almost every post he receives. TE, however, doesn't.

One would think that if a sticky needs to be made to stop people from being "mean" to a user that would indicate that there's something wrong with the user, not everyone else.

Note that I've never bashed TE, this is just an observation (yes, he annoys the living piss out of me, I just keep it to myself).

What ever happened to banning people for being jerks? I remember when people used to get banned for calling each other stupid, now people call each other f***ing morons, idiots, dumba**es, and all other kinds of things and nobody seems to care. It seems like whenever I have a problem with a member acting up the admins tell me to put them on ignore and that they'll have a talk with said member. WTF? That's a pretty poor excuse. I'm pretty sure several members have hundreds of talks so far, look at how much good it's doing!

IMO, and this is purely opinion, if a mod tells you to just put someone on ignore, that's the mod being lazy and not trying to discipline people. Hiding the problem doesn't help get rid of it.

Can you do me the favor of showing me recent posts of people calling someone a ****ing idiot, moron, etc, and I'll deal with them. Insults haven't been a large problem recently. Many members have been too busy with the holidays and new gadgets (I'm pretty sure the Wii brought our average posts a day down by a large amount) to bother starting flame wars. If I've over-looked some horrible posts, as well as the rest of the staff, please, post them here now, and I'll deal with them.

That's true to some extent, but around here bashing is a competitive sport and tends to take on a life of it's own.

***. Mods are way, way too lax these days. It's really starting to hurt the community. You can just about get away with murder these days.

Roach, I've seen multiple admins respond to these kind of posts without even giving a warning. In other words, they responded to the post without even addressing the problem.

Maybe the mods should start enforcing the rules tighter, including on me even though I brought it up? I don't mind being banned if I broke a rule or was an idiot, and I should have been banned numerous times by now.

Example: I started a thread about a virus on my computer, Tiberium comes in and says "Atleast you have a nice computer to get a virus on..." and leaves. In fact, that whole thread was full of condom jokes, but that aside Tiberium's post was not witty, funny, or even contribute to either discussion going on in the thread. I recently did the same thing in NoESC's thread about selling his computer, but I realized I was being an *** and deleted my post, and I'm trying to refrain from doing this now.

Oh, and even though no one's seemed to notice, kudos to Freelancer for mellowing out recently.
I had a blog. It sucked.
2007-01-04, 3:05 PM #70
Calling a mod lazy isn't against the rules, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that they're being a little too 'lax' as everyone puts it. In a couple of instances I've even seen mods join in the bashing of someone (Not gonna name any names or go to the trouble of finding posts, I'm just saying).

Hey, you guys aren't admins.

Why are you acting like you are?

Let them deal with their own responsibilities. If you don't like what they're doing, talk to another admin. If they don't listen, talk to another one. If none of them listen, it's probably a problem with you, not the admin.

If you want me to be SA-like strict, I will go ahead and be that strict. When you come *****ing to me that you got unfairly banned, I'm going to point RIGHT to this thread and point out how SEVERAL people were saying that we're too lenient. Problem is, you want us to be strict on the other guy but lenient on you. **** don' fly that way, son.
