The most powerful FPS weapon of any time?

My first choice would be Duke Nukem 3D's Devastator. The UT2004's nuclear bomb a close second, and the BFG9000 as a third.

the BFG was pretty powerful, but I think the AWP is the most destructive in terms of balance. Good god.

Other notable ones include:
- Battleship in Desert Combat
- Repeater in JK (Alt fire + primary fire = lots of ow)
- Grenades in AA
- LAW in Deus Ex
- Plasma Rifle in Deus Ex
- That laser thing in Serious Sam
- Repeating Cannon in FEAR

and some non-FPS things

- Doomcannon in Rise of Legends
- Steller Converter in Master of Orion 2
- Phasers in Master of Orion 2 (Shield piercing + enveloping = ow)
- Minigun set to have explosions in Worms 2... heh

The fusion rocket launcher from Red Faction was pretty powerful; especially if you mess around with some of the game files and make it rapid-fire, hah.

EDIT: Oh yeah, also the dark matter gun from Quake 4. That one was pretty cool.

Oood and the supercharged gravity gun.

Gravity gun. Loved the Concussion rifle from JK in multi-player though.

Redeemer. Gravity Gun isn't that powerful, even the souped up one. Redeemer is a veritable personal nuclear missile.

I'm gonna have to go with Yoshi on this one.

infinite rocket launcher from resident evil 4
Chicago Typewriter from resident evil 4 (tommy gun with infinite bullets)
Handcannon from resident evil 4 (s&w 500)

Redeemer is definitely, by far, the largest weapon in any FPS ever. The only thing that even comes close, from what I remember, is when you can call down a phaser strike in Elite Force 2.

BFG from Quake 2. Fire that into a room full of enemies, and you get an instant paintjob on the walls.

I'm deadly with any weapon, especially in CS...next thing you know...BOOM HEAD shot.

Well there's that big cannon thing in Serious Sam.

A Redeemer can be shot down...

The main Leviathan gun from UT2k4 is pretty badass.

Souped up gravity gun can grab the missile and shoot it back at you.

That's when you detonate the missile, the minute it stops moving. Remote detonation. And the souped up grav gun only works close enough for the redeemer to go off.

Source has MORE recoil than 1.6, and the recoil is more realistic and less random (as are the weapon and grenade physics).

The stun stick from Half Life 2.

I agree with Duke Nukem 3D's Devastator. Why don't games of today have guns like that? :(

Oh yes someone mentioned it. Nothing beats the Chronoscepter in Turok.

And of course, the pumped up grav gun owns.

The Redeemer from the Unreal games and the BFG from the Quake games. I remember back when the BFG was banned from all Q2 CTF ladder games.

I think the nuke from Shadow Warrior outdid the Redeemer in explosion size, it also left green 'radioactive' gas for a while and had a massive flashbang effect.

Probably there is something bigger in another more obscure FPS.

I always liked that one rocket gun that sent a field of explosions in all directions in Rise of the Triad.
