Or atleast convince his parents. I mean, there are probably some damn good reasons to get a new computer that isn't almost 10 years old. Seriously, I'm pretty sure keeping up with technology isn't a bad thing.

You should've updated it before hooking it up to the internet. Who knows what else you've got now.

Win98 is safer than 2000 in a way, because it doesn't offer a ridiculous amount of services by default.

Honestly, have you not noticed his relentless complaining about how much his computer sucks? $500 would get him a mac mini.

Plus when you were his age, were you really getting a job to pay for rent or something? Most kids get jobs to pay for things (games, cds, movies)
