"Mormons believe that human beings can become like gods. But they remain subordinate to God even when they become exalted and like God."

"Mormons believe that God has a physical body, is married, and can have children."

"Mormons will often take time at the end of prayers to do some intense listening to try and "hear" God's response."

Yeah, I've sure been tripping my **** off like that too.

I was baptised Roman Catholic... but now I'm not really religious at all... Deism kind of appeals to me, but that's like dead.

I believe the bible says, "As man is, God was, and as God is, man shall become." Something like that.

Yup.

What's wrong with that? They're taking time to feel a response from God via the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit. Unlike Catholicism, prayer for Mormons is very personal, and they believe that God hears and responds to their prayers.

I always feel the need to defend Mormonism even though I'm not a part of it... *shrug*

Pretty sure I was baptized Catholic as a baby, could care less about it now, however.

Catholics believe that prayer is personal, and that God hears and responds to them, just not necessarily in the way of something you can hear like a voice.

hahaha I always feel the need to defend Catholicism even though I'm agnostic half the time.
Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.

I've always been told it isn't a voice you hear physically, just feelings. Like the way inspiration feels, inspiration in the sense that you've had a epiphany. You aren't going to find Mormon's pray, and listen for someone to shout out answers. And if there is silence after a prayer it's typically for reflective reasons.

Sometimes I swat at the air because I'm afraid the invisible man is giving me "feelings" in inappropriate places.

Don’t worry, Rob. I’ve never heard of ‘the invisible man’ castrating heathens before. You should be fine.

That quote actually comes from one of our modern day leaders. Joseph Fielding Smith if I remember correctly, though it might be another. We do, however, thank you for defending us even though you aren't obligated to do so.

That's not strange at all. You're familiar with Catholicism, so you feel the need to dispel ignorance of it. That's not because you like Catholicism necessarily, it's just because you don't like ignorance.

No because we usually wear black suits and don't carry briefcases. But nevertheless, they might have extended the New Mexico mission to Black Mesa :P
