Cigars are okay, I just have horrible luck with them; unless they're multi-hundred dollar cigars, I tend to have a 1 in 3 chance that they taste like some form of pesticide and/or butt. I could smoke from a pipe or a hookah all night though, and tend to go through about a quarter or a third a pack of camel wides a day, a lot more when I'm drinking.

Price factor is one, the do-it-yourself factor is anohter, and I personally like the way they taste/pull. A lot of people don't, and consider them an inferior substitute. Then again, there's a learning curve to rolling, and your first few tries will be pretty crappy. I can roll them so that they're aesthetically similar to a machine-made cigarette, and last a good deal longer, too. Most loose cigarette tobacco you buy is shag (or at least should be, if it isn't, it probably means it's been on the shelf way too long), whereas the factories generally use much more chopped up tobacco. The two taste/smoke differently, especially when inexperienced rollers don't pull apart the clumps. Rolling too tight also makes it pull/burn poorly.

I smoke when I drink, I generally just bum from friends, although I usually have a pack lying around, I'll go through a pack every 2 weeks to a month.

Usually whatever I feel like buying; Lucky Strikes, Marlboro Reds, whatever.
