Die Hard or T2. Last Action Hero also gets a nod because it contains one of my favorite bad guys, and my favorite villain ideas, "No Jack, I just left one chamber empty."

Yeah, I still find that incredibly boring and cliche.

To be honest, I haven't seen either movie in full, only parts. But I didn't like what I saw, so I'll pass.

Terminator movies have always stood out from the rest for me.

Of course there are other good ones, but they have to involve a lot of explosions. And boobs. Exploding boobs? Grah!

Terminators are pretty solid movies indeed. Especially 1 and 2.

Sounds like you. "Oh, I saw like 2 minutes and didn't like it, I'll pass." Honestly, Ong Bak was AWESOME--a little cliche? Maybe. But the fact that he didn't use wires in any part of it makes it a billion times more awesome.

I can only watch so many SERIOUS ASIAN FIGHTING MOVIES OF SERIOUS SERIOUSITY before they, you know, become kind of boring.

I don't like Ong Bak because of the plotline. I think there's something in almost every red blooded male that thinks kung fu is just sweet.

Does Fearless count as an action movie? I know there were no guns, but I -love- that movie.

Commando wins the award for most awesomely over the top end battle, involving a ridiculously high Cuban terrorist bodycount.

Aliens just gives me the jeebies, especially when Ripley takes on the queen in her giant freaking forklift.

But best ever? I'm surprised no one has mentioned Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not only does the film have some of the best set stunt pieces (the boulder chase, Tibetan bar fight, fistfight on the Nazi plane, and convoy truck chase) but the movie also has good acting, script, and excellent overall mood.

You'll probably all hate me for it, but I also loved Starship Troopers.

EDIT: And agreed about Raiders of the Lost Ark, it is completely beyond awesome.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the only Indy film that I remember seeing in its entirety. Its definitely in my top 10 movies, are the other two also good?

The Last Crusade is a definite must see, and Temple of Doom is marginally must see, if only for the heart ripping out scene

I also like that movie. Enough to have bought it on DVD. However, it's not a pure action movie. It's a satire film with an action setting.

The book was better :p

Seriously though, the book rules, even if Heinlein is a bit of a nut when it comes to political theory.
