That mission's ridiculous, it's pretty hard WITHOUT doing the secondary... it's the only mission I can't get everything done in.

By the way, the freaking scrin campaign was so unfulfilling, I was just getting into it, and it was like "Oh, no, screw you, you have to wait til the X-pack"

I personally thought that aside from a few units the scrin were utter crap.
2007-04-10, 12:36 PM #43
Alot of the nod units are useless.

I can't do my never ending stream of infantry for great victory anymore. without serious effort. :(

(Hahaha, I can still get it to work. It requires timing. Build four hands of nod. Build just rocket troopers with two of them, infantry on the next, and suicide guys with the last. Pause one of the orders and resume so they alternate for a constant stream of rocket dude. Set the waypoints for all of the hands of not for the middle of the enemy base. It's like the zerg rush, only alot more fun to watch and you don't have to pay as much attention to it because foot soldiery guys are so cheap to produce for nod. This also works really well with buggies thrown in, but then it kind of gets expensive.)
2007-04-10, 12:39 PM #44
I tried a similar thing with suicide bombers...

Even if they run into an enemy attack you still win.
2007-04-10, 12:39 PM #45
I kind of agree, the NOD are by far the worst faction.

I hate NOD (in the story), just wish they let you play them first and then the other faction fixes all the mess NOD makes. Except in this and Firestorm, the campaigns aren't one after the other but occur parallel together I think.

Actualy one of nods flaming graces is the shadow. Gliding in a few teams and blowing the enemies power is sweet.
2007-04-10, 12:45 PM #48
Only if you go for them early on.

Otherwise they'll constantly get owned by stealth detecting turrets. (LAME)

And nod's commando is useless too.

(To balance it out their super weapons are a **** ton better)

There's something better than the Ion Cannon?

Honestly, Ion Cannon FTFW

Nuclear missile followed by tiberium gas bomb, and the catalyst missile. (Which is awesome because computer guys build near tiberium alot)

That scrin mothership thing is totally bad *** when employed correctly.

I'm still working on the GDI campaign, and this game is amazing.

I still like Generals because of the modern scenario, but in terms of mechanics this game is much better than any other C&C.

Just a question, how is the pacing in this game? Is it like RA2 (which was damned near perfect IMO), or is it more slowly-paced, like Tiberian Sun?

It's very quick. All the base building is done in a minute or two, it really puts the emphasis on combat.

For those of you who have beaten the Scrin campaign

Is Kane some kind of clone or something? They said "replicant DNA found in database" or something to that effect, plus everyone was saying how he had "come back". I don't know, something's up with him, I can't wait for the X-pack

I think it has to do something with Tiberium Sun as well, fishstickz.

But our magnificent leader will reveal all in due time.

Canonically Kane has been alive for what must be over 100 years

Yeah, but I thought he was already a clone in Tiberian Sun?
nope.

I thought he was put into Mc-Cryosleep or something. He had that funky metal plate covering a large part of his face at one point. (And the NOD ending depicts alot of crazyness where CABAL and Kane FUSE. So Kane might be a reincarnated Computer God alien guy. This **** is getting nuts.
2007-04-11, 1:27 PM #61
Well, there's alot of belief that Kane is Cain, the one who first murdered Abel, and made to walk the earth forever. I always subscribed to this idea, which is why the Ion Cannon didn't kill him. However, I now think that when he disappeared in Tiberium Sun, he was transported by the aliens, which is how he knew a liquid tiberium explosion would summon them. This is where the "Replicant DNA found in database" bit confuses me.

I just figured Kane clones his body and uses them as backup like after an ion cannon strike or tiberian exposure. I haven't played a single game other than a demo btw, should I start with the first?

Well, if you get past the rush fest, it has a whole lot of depth. The shear amount of units and things going on quickly escalates to the point where it'd be difficult to deal with a whole lot more. There are plenty of high ranked players who get on entirely on rushes, but don't have what it takes to keep a T3 economy going. Right now I'm hoping the patch will fix the balancing issues and really get this game going. A T2 buff would really help with all the rushes.

Here's the real question: Has C&C finally managed to get the Attack/Move command right like with how it is in Star/Warcraft and Warhammer or is it still a joke?

What, you mean the left and right mouse clicks being different? Oh noes, a ten minute learning curve, what a joke.

It's been that style since Generals.

Eh? I really only remember the Red Alerts attack/move, which was basically like a tank rolling by an enemy, popping off a couple shots, but just kept moving on...into the center of the base without engaging and taking out the defenses first.

2007-04-12, 10:34 PM #68
Oh, that. I thought you were *****ing about the left and right mouse click functions being "backwards," sorry.

Attack/move isn't how it was traditionally. You now just set one of several stances. There's like hold fire completely, hold unless attacked, guard, and aggressive I think. Very effective.

I got the demo but something has been bugging me about it. Rise of Legends runs near perfect at medium-high settings, but C&C 3 runs pretty crappy at medium settings, and looks a hell of a lot worse than RoL does. Maybe it's all the crap that's happened to my computer since I last played, RoL, but it bugs me anyways.

Great game though. Don't see myself playing it a whole lot though.

Well I figured out how to play Nod in the demo and I have to say it's the most fun I've had in an RTS next to mass siege zepplins in RoL.

Might consider buying it when I get the money.

just got my *** whupped online today. frick. gameplay is so much faster and frenetic than with warcraft...
2007-04-15, 10:22 AM #75
Yeah, I like the pacing of WC3. It might take between 20 and 45 minutes to finish a game, but it's fun in the mean time, and everything's spaced out nicely.

2007-04-15, 10:41 AM #76
...you can change the game speed. The defaults of online game speed are max.
2007-04-15, 1:42 PM #77
It has nothing to do with the game speed, I'm talking about the actual pacing.

2007-04-15, 2:57 PM #78
I still don't understand. With max game speed you can build barracks, troopers, etc. much more faster, in which case you build troopers and vehicles much faster. Which ultimatly leads to someone winning the game much faster.
2007-04-15, 3:05 PM #79
Like, pacing. In WC3 you do things like creep around the map leveling up a hero, which takes time away from harassing people, giving everyone a somewhat more fair playing ground for all skill levels.

Anyone see this yet? (Kane edition has it, but meh)
