Calling all 'freethinkers'

there are an infinite number of statements that can neither be proved nor disproved. Assuming any of them to be true or false true makes you an idiot

you can't disprove that the Flying Spaghetti Monster exists, so shut up and respect my religion

Thankyou, SMOCK
Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.

Out of curiosity, what is your religion, Mystic?

(Also, I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or disagreeing with me or what.)

Every single time there's a potentially interesting discussion started, it's ruined by a dozen people going 'oh no! another religious debate! just let everyone believe!' that are just too intellectually lazy to attempt to understand the discussion at hand. Really, if your only post is to complain about the discussion at hand, stop ****ing posting. Unless you're me, and you're complaining about the complaining.

This is a ****ing discussion forum, what the **** do you expect we do? Post more pictures of our ****-ugly selves?

i actually rather like debating theology and what not in these threads. i think the only real problem comes when people get indignant and reduce themselves to calling each other tards, goes for both sides. it goes without saying that if your going to debate something that people are as passionate about (for or against) as religion, the threads are going to get somewhat heated. as long as it doesn't reduce to unwarranted insult hurling, then its fine by me.... but then this is massassi... :psyduck:

It's not so much of proving the god doesn't exist, as it is proving near everything in the bible is bull. And that the people that WORSHIP the book don't even read it.

That said, I can't believe in God because I don't believe in destiny. Because that implies a serious lack of free will.

The only way God isn't disprovable is if he is entirely outside of our universe and has absolutely no effect on our world whatsoever. That would essentially disprove any modern Gods, and at the same time, make the argument irrelivent.

I agree. In that regard, the link to the forum in the first post has a huge leg up on Massassi.

You can't even prove that someone who trusts emotion and personal experience is less intelligent! Inferior scientists maybe, but not less intelligent.

maybe one is more intelligent than me. Maybe a monkey is too. But if he isn't scientific, he's just an animal. I don't attempt to reason with animals

So, if we can't know for sure, how can we say that we are inherently better than someone whose beliefs differ from ours?

who cares who is 'better'

Hey, it's moral relativity!

not relative. He has morals, i don't

I'm gonna quote JediKirby when he said this to me.

"What kind of superiority complex do you have?"
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

I'm quoted!

Ignoring his lack of tact, he's right though.

"I strongly feel that there's a [God]. I can't be wrong because it's my opinion." isn't scientific, and it's a waste of time. You can't disprove that there's a teapot in orbit around mars that has pink flowers on it, either. Lets argue about the colors of the flowers. Goddamn, Bob thinks it was a cottage scene.

I'm pretty sure humanity currently has that capability if it really wanted to exercise it.

The fact that you don't know anything about when the gospels were written, or by who (rather, who not), is a pretty clear sign that you've not really done any reading or discussing on the topic. I've run into very few atheists that don't know exactly what I've just rattled off, it's not like I'm spouting out anything that's not backed up by scholars and know by fellow atheists.

okay, allow me to refute your argument: hurf durf, at least I'm not a member of the great internet libertarian neckbeard/mouthbreather circle**** who spends his days alternating between foaming at the mouth with impotent rage over all of the ignorant sheep who disagree with my socioeconomic beliefs, and staring into a mirror; into my dull, empty, soulless cow eyes trying to convince myself that I am not a living characture of the people I hamhandedly try to emulate.

please leave this forum or I will be forced to bill you for damages caused when your militant atheism firehosed out of my monitor

in conclusion,
