Women and purses
2007-04-11, 7:38 PM #1
This occured to me the other day in a restaurant. I saw a girl walk in with a coil wallet in her hand, and through the other door, a girl with a purse over her shoulders.

And then it struck me. Purses are gross, man. I find them so unattractive, and I don't know what it is? For some reason seeing a girl carrying around a purse makes me go "eh, she must need a lot of stuff to be happy".

Am I alone? Is something wrong with me? Does it fit with my obsession with older women?

wallet, keys, cell phone, for me blood sugar meter, gum/mints, feminine hygeine products

and then a whole bunch of other stuff gets throwin in there over time and all, but it's hard for us to carry all that around all the time. Our clothes don't usually have 5 million really deep pockets.

I hate carrying around a purse though

Um, okay... I don't really see how purses are gross. Huge, over the top purses are pushing sanity, but not gross. Unless of course the woman has a kid, in which case 60% of the contents of the purse are intended to keep the kid happy. Toys, candy, etc. Purses are very understandable. Women tend to wear tighter fitting clothes with small or no pockets. Thus, the need for a purse.

What do you carry around in your pockets daily? I have my wallet, cell phone, keys, thumb drive, and some mints or a pack of gum. Women probably carry more or less the same stuff (maybe less a thumb drive), but typically not in pockets. Hence, purse.

I don't know, I think you're just being paranoid.

There is something wrong with you. Women can't be efficient like us guys. They need more than a leather tri-fold to hold all their accessories. Remember : Girls are ugly. That's why they need all the make up to look good!

And it doesn't fit at all. Especially as older women tend to carry even bigger purses.

(Also their clothes don't have pockets.)

What I don't understand is why women insist on wearing tight fitting clothes all the time. Those tight fitting clothes can not be conformable all the time, not to mention the complete lack of usable pockets. Also, maybe this is just me, but women doesn’t seem any less attractive in baggy or loose-fitting clothes…

Women! Ditch the purses and tight Jeans and go for the kakis and cargo pants. Live a freer more comfortable life!

*shrug* Women should generally wear whatever they're comfortable in really and worry less about others opinions.

At the risk of turning this conversation juvenile, I think the primary function of a woman's purse is to store implements related to their menstrual cycle. Men, try carrying around a tampon in your pocket for a few days and I imagine you'd prefer a purse. Beyond that, women store everything else in there cause they got it anyway and there's not a lot of room in the pockets of women's clothing.

My girlfriend doesn't use a purse ever, if she needs to carry crap she uses a backpack. She also doesn't wear makeup, so she doesn't look like a clown:v:

I've asked my friend why she wears what she does sometimes. She just insists that although it may be uncomfortable it is still fun to dress up a bit. Dun understand it but there's one girl's reasoning.

Women should wear WTFever because I don't like to say women should anything because I feel like a demeaning ***. Which I probably am but I like to put up the pretention that I am an ideally romantic man.

And I mean, carrying a purse because your boyfriend needs an emergency candybary once in a while is one thing (however, odd, that task might be) but carrying around oodles of makeup that is gross anyway makes 0 sense.

I guess all I really get is needing hygeine products, and the fact that there are tiny pockets. But I own the same pants as some of my girlfriends and I don't need a purse...

I can't speak for all girls, but most of my clothes are pretty comfy. and carrying around ****loads of makeup is different than carrying around chipstick and such.

I really hate how the majority of people think girls need to wear makeup to look good. I seriously think the use of any makeup at all is detracting. I wanna see what the person really looks like, not some fake crap on top. Luckily I've found someone like that.. But she really is the exception around here, almost every girl is all about makeup and fancy hair and such. Whatever, I guess they think they look nice that way.

You also don't believe in deoderant.

I fail to see your point Captain McDirtyhippy

I've only met one girl who acctualy needed makeup, and she had a skin condition that made it appear as if she had chicken pocks.

but anyway, I don't think a woman carrying a purse detracts from her appearance. That is, as long as it isn't rediculusly huge or something.

And I could yap on for quite a while on women's clothing but yall don't want to hear that.
I'll just that from the few pics I've seen, sugarless dresses quite nice, and as she said, she's comfy.
more women should follow this example.

I don't wear deodorant anymore because my girlfriend is chemically sensitive, and it would irritate her if I did. But yeah, my views are pretty hippyish. At least I'm consistant, and comfortable being a hippy.

If the 60's taught us anything, it was that the opinions of hippies don't count.

No, the 60s taught the hippies that their parent's opinions didn't count. The 70s taught everyone that hippies opinions don't count. The 80s proved disco was an aberration. The 90s proved Michael Jackson is king of more than just pop. Now we are learning that we should have gotten rid of Kurt Kobain far earlier...

Seeing as how Vietnam happened in the 60's, I'm going with the 60's telling us hippies' opinions didn't matter.

Eh, those old hippies sucked. Today hippies just seem like normal people who eat organic food and like to go outside.

You know what the 90s really taught us? White trash is the lose.

Lots of them work with freight. Boxes and such. And have girly long hair. And live with their parents. And have one syllable names.

Lose.

Hey guys let's listen to some "Insane Clown Posse!"

The way I see it. When a girl is my age a purse just makes it seem as if she's trying to be older than she is. Though, I really don't care.

Hahaha, I got into an argument with this guy at work over Insane Clown Posse.

I told him they sucked because they're really untalented, and their lyrics suck. And he was all "You don't have to be talented to be a good band!"

BWAHAHAHAHA.

I went shopping for new clothes with a hot girl because my sense of fassion sucks.
Every time I thought I had found a nice pair of trousers she dismissed them on the grounds of them having too many pockets. :(
At least I was allowed to buy a nice leather jacket with the correct amount (a lot) of pockets.
Sorry for the lousy German

The other thing about girls and purses is that they leave them all over the place. Girls are forgetful creatures.

I wouldn't be caught dead leaving my keys or wallet somewhere.

The main problem with carrying a bag (in britland a purse is the female equivalent of a wallet) is that the stuff you carry expands to fill the size of the bag, until you either have to drastically change what you carry, or buy a bigger bag.

You aren't the only one. High heels rarely look good either. When girls wear them with tight capris they look like peg-legged pirates.
