I don't know what's going on with your 360s, but mine (bought in February) is nice and quiet and it runs quite cool. It really doesn't get any warmer than my original Xbox did after extended play and it's definitely not as loud.

When mine still worked, it was loud as hell, and this wasn't just before it broke down but ever since I got it. Maybe it's because it was a launch 360, but it was seriously several times louder than my PS3.

I heard something about Microsoft changing the cooling fan of later production 360's. So maybe JonC's 360 was equipped with the quieter fan? Maybe?

I do remember seeing a comparison test between the ps3, wii and xbox360.
360 was the loudest, then ps3, then wii.
Not sure when this was done, or how much difference there was.. but yeah.

I remember seeing such a thing as well. I also remember the difference between the PS3 and the 360 being minimal at best.

My 360 runs realtively quiet. It's about as loud as my original Xbox. I don't really understand why noise is an issue, though. Don't you usually have the TV sound turned up higher than a cooling fan anyway?

For those who think the Xbox360 is quiet, chances are you're so accustomed to the noise that you're not used to hearing a "quiet" machine.
The PS3 surprised the heck out of me when I first turned it on.

This signature agrees with the previously posted signatures. To violate previously posted signatures is a violation of the EULA for this signature and you will be subject to unruly behavior.
